Gigi Hadid apologized in an open letter before Melania Trump

At the last American Music Awards, model and host Gigi Hadid showed a small sketch for the first lady of the USA Melania Trump. The scriptwriters' attempt to bring scandals to the show was a success, as after the parody the model had to look for words of justification.

Let's be honest, Gigi cute and directly played the role assigned to her. The supermodel narrowed her eyes, pouted her lips and said with a Slavic accent that was typical of Melania:

I love my husband, President Barack Obama and our children, Sasha and Malia.

The phrase prescribed by the writers was taken from Melania Trump's recent public appearance. During the pre-election campaign, the billionaire's wife repeatedly gave cause for humorous sketches and sketches. By the way, for the phrase that Gigi said on the show, Melania was accused of plagiarism.

Nevertheless, the joke seemed unsuccessful and angered many Americans. Immediately after the show's broadcast, social networks "exploded" from discussing the sketch and condemnation of Gigi. Outraged fans of the first lady of the United States did not choose words for the model and accused her of hypocrisy:

How can she (Gigi) speak in support of the fight against violence, if she herself insults people and racist antics. She should be ashamed of this act. She must apologize!

The super model could not stand the baiting in social networks and had to write an open letter on its Twitter with apologies. In the letter Gigi wrote with her own hand that she sincerely regrets that the sketch was not correctly understood. According to the girl, this was not a stupid improvisation on her part, she worked according to the script and tried to fulfill her role as a leader at a decent level. At the end of the open letter, Hadid expressed her hope that Melania Trump understands that the format of the show is entertaining and sometimes passes the limits of permissible moral norms.

Unfortunately, the professional screenwriters of the show did not foresee possible consequences of the parody. To date, the press office of the first lady has not given official comments, thus making it clear that she does not consider it necessary to focus on this topic.
