Heat-saving film for windows

In winter, when the temperature of the air in the street drops below zero, people turn on heating. Some of the heat from the batteries goes through windows, doors and even walls. Many try to avoid this. If the insulation of walls from the inside and outside with different materials is familiar to many, then few know about the heat-saving film for windows. Although this is a very useful thing.

What is heat-shielding film on windows?

This film is a multi-layer composite material. Each layer of it has a thickness of only a few micrometers and is covered with several metal molecules (gold, silver, nickel and chromium alloys are suitable for this). But do not worry, the visibility and skipping of light through the windows on which this film was pasted will not deteriorate.

Due to this structure, this material has an effect of refraction, that is, reflects excessive heat energy from the street and delays heat inside the room.

Advantages of heat-reflecting film for windows

The strength of the glass increases. As the film creates another additional layer, your glass can withstand the impact on it by 7-8 kg per 1 m & sup2 more than it was before pasting. Even if it breaks, the fragments will not fly in different directions. This property will protect you from injuries and intruders.

Economical. Due to the fact that the heat generated by the heating system is stored indoors, it is natural that less energy is consumed to maintain the required temperature. Thus, such films for windows are not only heat and energy-saving.

Filtration of solar radiation. It consists in the retention of ultraviolet (from 90%) and infrared (from 30%) rays. This contributes to the fact that the interior items, which will be exposed to direct sunlight, will not burn out.

Overheat protection. Since excessive heat entering the room from the outside will be retained by the metal layer, even if the sun shines brightly, and there is no protection (curtains or curtains) on the windows, the temperature in the indoor premises will not rise.

The only thing that should not be expected is that your room will be warm, after turning off the heating. After all, this layer does not heat, but simply delays heat.

How to install heat-saving film on windows?

There are two types of heat-reflecting film for windows:

In order to carry out the installation of the first type of film, the glass must be prepared: wash with detergent and wipe dry. It is also recommended to carry out treatment with alcohol, so that no particles of fat remain on them. After removing the protective layer, glue the film to the glass and dilute it with soft rags or special rollers, so that no wrinkles remain. Surplus cut off with a stationery knife.

The second kind of installation is a little more difficult, for this, apart from the film itself, we need a double-sided scotch and a hairdryer. On the perimeter of the window, wipe the frame with a degreaser and stick the tape. Fold the film twice and cut out a piece, according to the size of our window + 2 cm on each side. Remove the protective layer from the adhesive tape and glue the edges of our film to it, and after that we heat it over the entire area. This will help to align it and achieve the necessary stretching of the material.

Since installing a heat-saving film on windows is a complicated process, it is better to provide it to professionals.

If you use thermal insulation film to insulate your windows, you will be able to store more than 30% of the heat inside your home. Buy these products, should be in the specialized stores, checking in advance quality certificates, since a fake will not give you the expected effect.
