Helena Christensen: "Having united, women have become stronger"

The Danish supermodel, the podium star of the 90's and 2000's, Helena Christensen is just as beautiful and in demand today. Today, Christensen is not just a model, but also a photographer, art director of a perfume brand and an active participant in charitable events. Helena continues to delight millions of fans with her beauty, sensitive nature, multifaceted talent and concern for others.

"After seeing something interesting, I immediately want to share it with everyone"

Helena often says that the photographer felt herself long before becoming a model, and that photography captures her whole, immersing herself in the world of other people living next door on our planet:

"My first worthwhile shots were taken during hitchhiking. I went around the world and, opening new views, just fixed them on the camera. But on my return from the trip, I immediately left for Paris and my modeling career spun there. After I acquired Polaroid and rushed. My passion flared with every new frame. The first polaroid snapshot is the Havana old man. Then I shot a lot, mostly nature. In the world there is a lot of interesting and important, seeing something unusual and striking, immediately want to share it with other people. I have always remembered my trips with UNHCR when I worked with the UN on refugee issues and there was a reporter-photographer. I happened to visit unique places and learn a lot. I thank fate for this opportunity. I shot even behind the scenes of fashion shows, but now among the old things these photos will not be easy to find. "

The Magnificent Seven

In the 90 years, along with several other supermodels, Christensen led the most popular ratings of the world. Together with Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Carla Bruni, Claudia Schiffer, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington, Helena represented the "Magnificent Seven" leading models of those years. She admits that the profession and the glory that came down made it possible to feel special:

"This is a terrific and a little crazy time. We worked almost incessantly, in different countries, we had to travel a lot. And for me, an inquisitive young photographer, it was a delightful opportunity to discover new cities and fascinating beauty of nature. This not only caused violent emotions and raised the mood, but also influenced the formation of character and my personality. At that time in the world there were few girls with such a profession and opportunities, so I, of course, felt special. The work was not easy, at times it was hard, but still there was much more good than bad. Then I did not fully realize that I had great luck and that these years will become one of the most fascinating and unique in my life. I met incredible girls, great clever girls. And now, hearing about their success and relevance, not only in the modeling profession, but in other projects, I am very proud of them. "

Swimming, boxing and yoga

Supermodel does not hide that adhering to a healthy lifestyle, still allows himself to occasionally relax and eat a piece of favorite dessert or pasta with spicy sauce. Looking at this fragile and delicate beauty, hardly anyone will be able to think that she is doing ... boxing:

"Maybe it's hard to believe, but I do boxing, and three times a week I have complex training. In addition, several yoga classes, 2-3 times a week. I like swimming very much, especially in rivers and oceans, yes, and more - sprint races. I, of course, follow my diet, try to eat healthy food, but since I'm a fan of cheeses, pastas and desserts and sometimes spoil myself with my favorite dishes, I have to stick to the balance. I follow the condition of the skin constantly - regularly visit the salons and do various procedures. At home, I usually use tonic and exfoliant, oils and serums from Nimue, I keep my skin moisturized. "

Secret of aroma

Helena is the creative director of the Strangelove NYC brand. The model admitted that perfumery is a special passion for her and when it was possible to join the team creating fragrances, she was very happy:

"The founder of this company is my friend, Elizabeth Gaines. I joined her as soon as she started. I remember well when she brought with Kalimantan ud, which became the basis of perfumes from our collection. Smells work wonders, they revive memories, bringing us back to the past. I have always been fond of flavors, and the process of creating them is simply mesmerizing. Recently we released our fourth series of fragrance - lostinflowers, it's delicious! ".

Save the planet

Supermodel is actively involved in humanitarian projects and is struggling to improve the quality of life in problem regions. She is confident that the planet is in danger and every person on earth is responsible for her salvation:

"Each of us has the opportunity, albeit in different ways, to help people and preserve our nature. I was fortunate enough to take part in the expeditions of Oxfam and UNHCR. I took photos and wrote about the work of these wonderful organizations. This is very important, people should know what is happening in poor countries. The first trip with Oxfam was in Peru and for me it became special, because I'm half Peruvian. My country has opened up to me completely from an unexpected side. I myself witnessed the effects of global warming. And I realized that you should always be aware of what is happening, in order to properly try to help our planet. "

Strong women

Christensen is sure that in recent years, women have become stronger and spread their wings. In society, the attitude toward women's labor changes significantly:

"Significant changes have taken place and women have united, they have become more confident, courageous and strong. Society should respect women and value their work. Women - mothers, keeper of the family and a good atmosphere, we do a lot of important and necessary in this life, sometimes even impossible. Nature has created us with such an ulterior motive. And I, of course, are happy that recently the attitude towards women has changed, although there is still a lot of work ahead. "
