More than 90% of the world's population is infected with one of the forms of the most common viral pathology, which the ancient Greeks called creeping disease. Depending on the type of herpes can be accompanied by severe and dangerous clinical manifestations, flow with poorly noticeable symptoms or progress completely without any characteristic signs.
Types of herpes
In humans, eight forms of the disease are diagnosed. The first two species are more common than others, they are both called simple viruses, but differ in appearance. Herpes of type 2 symptoms manifests in the area of the anus and genitalia, and the first form of pathology affects the face, neck and, in rare cases, the central nervous system.
Other types of illness:
- 3 type - chicken pox and shingles;
- Type 4 - infectious mononucleosis and Epstein-Barr virus;
- 5 type - cytomegalovirus;
- 6-8 types - poorly understood.
Herpes virus - symptoms
The clinical picture in the development of the presented disease corresponds to its form, in some situations, specific signs are completely absent. For proper diagnosis it is important to find out what is specific for herpes - the symptoms of certain types of virus can quickly become complicated and in the future lead to dangerous consequences.
The only common feature of all types of pathology is the nature and appearance of the rashes. Specific symptoms of herpes in women, men and children - the presence on the skin or mucous membranes placer small bubbles. They have a thin translucent shell, filled with liquid exudate or pus. Blisters can merge with each other, forming large areas of damage.
Herpes of type 1
A simple virus of this form more often damages the skin and mucous membranes in the lower part of the face. In the cold season, herpes is especially common on the lips - the symptoms of the disease look like sores, crusts and bubbles around or inside the mouth. A complex of such symptoms is sometimes called a cold, erroneously associating their occurrence with hypothermia. A common complication of this pathology is herpes in the nose - the symptoms are supplemented with the formation of a characteristic rash in the nostrils and around them. Before the appearance of bubbles can be felt:
- itching;
- burning;
- pain;
- tingling.
In exceptional cases, the herpes simplex in the intimate zone will debut - the symptoms include the appearance of small translucent blisters on the genitals. Often the described form of the virus progresses asymptomatically, because of which the carrier of pathogenic cells does not know about its problem for many months and even years, succeeding in infecting others.
Very rarely presented type of disease provokes severe conditions:
- gingivostomatitis;
- keratitis;
- "Wrestling" or "gladiator" herpes;
- esophagitis;
- felon;
- encephalitis;
- neonatal herpes simplex;
- keratoconjunctivitis;
- sycosis;
- eczema.
Herpes of type 2
This form of the virus is the main cause of genital and anal lesions in the form of single or multiple vesicles. Concomitant symptoms of genital herpes:
- inflammation and enlargement of the lymph nodes;
- aches in the body;
- chills;
- lethargy;
- pain in the legs;
- tingling in the thighs and buttocks.
The listed clinical signs are rarely observed simultaneously, more often the genital virus proceeds asymptomatically. Sometimes the described type of the disease provokes inflammation of the membranes of the brain (herpetic meningitis of Mollareth). This dangerous complication is typical for people with a weakened body defenses or immunodeficiencies.
Herpes of type 3
With the virus in question, a person first encountered in childhood, the pathology causes chicken pox. The disease of this form is also called varicella zoster or herpes zoster - symptoms:
- hyperthermia;
- spotted rashes all over the body;
- transformation of the rash (after 5-6 hours) into small blisters;
- severe itching;
- ulceration of the vesicles;
- covering erosion crusts.
After recovering from varicella, the cells of the virus become latent, but not removed from the body. After several decades, they can activate and provoke lichen or herpes zoster - the symptoms:
- malaise;
- temperature increase;
- increased local lymph nodes;
- tingling;
- neuralgic pain;
- appearance of pink spots on the body;
- formation of erythematous group papules;
- transformation of rashes into watery vesicles;
- increased pain in the rash zone;
- opening of blisters, covering of ulcers with crusts.
Self-healing occurs within 3-4 weeks, but after full recovery, herpes can continue to progress - symptoms in the form of complications:
- damage to the ocular branch of the trigeminal nerve;
- Ramsey-Hunt syndrome;
- postherpetic neuralgia;
- motor disorders;
- herpetic myelitis;
- encephalitis;
- hemiplegia;
- paresis;
- generalized rashes.
Herpes of type 4
This form of pathology causes the development of infectious mononucleosis, especially in children and young people. This herpes is known as the Epstein-Barr virus - symptomatology:
- a sharp increase in body temperature, fever;
- swelling of mucous pharynx, as with laryngitis or pharyngitis;
- pain in the joints, throat, muscles, head;
- fatigue, drowsiness;
- increase in the size of lymph nodes;
- blister or papular rash on the skin, which disappears after 3 days;
- nasal congestion;
- reddening of the pharynx;
- nausea;
- deterioration of appetite;
- sometimes - enlargement of the spleen , liver, jaundice.
Herpes of type 5
The described type of infectious lesion provokes cytomegaly or "kissing disease". Another name that has herpes present is cytomegalovirus. Often it progresses without clinical signs, so it is difficult to diagnose and detect during severe exacerbations. Manifestations of the disease are similar to mononucleosis herpes - symptoms of a typical cytomegalovirus infection:
- chills;
- heat;
- heat;
- weakness;
- a sore throat;
- swelling of the lymph nodes.
If the pathology progresses, the following symptoms are observed:
- difficulty breathing and swallowing;
- shooting pain in the salivary glands;
- hearing impairment;
- dry mouth;
- redness of the skin above the salivary glands;
- joint and muscle pain;
- increased sweating;
- complications in the form of damage to internal organs and systems.
Herpes of type 6 - symptoms
The considered form of the virus is characterized by polymorphism, therefore it manifests itself in a very diverse manner. Because of the many "masks" under which the infection lies, it is difficult to diagnose herpes of type 6 in adults - the symptoms can be:
- sudden exanthema;
- fever;
- reddening of the pharynx;
- lymphadenopathy;
- swelling and redness of the eyelids;
- catarrhal otitis;
- rashes on the body of a different nature - macular, roseous, maculopapular;
- chronic fatigue syndrome;
- febrile convulsions;
- Infectious mononucleosis;
- necrotizing lymphadenitis;
- encephalitis;
- lymphomas.
Some doctors suggest a link between the virus of type 6 and the following diseases:
- hepatitis;
- pink lichen;
- multiple organ failure;
- multiple sclerosis;
- hemophagocytosis;
- thrombocytopenic purpura;
- eosinophilia;
- a syndrome of hypersensitivity to medicines.
Herpes 7th type
This form of the disease, the ways of its transmission, the degree of spread and the effect in the body have been studied little. In 95% of adults, this latent internal herpes is found - there are no symptoms, the cells of the virus simply live in the blood and saliva. Clinical manifestations of the described pathology during primary infection are very similar to mononucleosis and sudden exanthema. They are almost identical to the symptoms of type 6 herpes - fever, rashes and signs of intoxication.
There is a theory that the virus in question provokes several diseases:
- chronic fatigue syndrome;
- febrile convulsions ;
- meningeal encephalitis;
- lymphoproliferative diseases.
Herpes of type 8
This poorly known type of pathology is considered an aggressive virus, which attacks the lymphatic system immediately after penetration into the human body. The described form of herpes is associated with Kaposi's sarcoma, which is a malignant lesion of the skin. The disease looks like herpes on the body - symptoms:
- red-blue spots on the hands, legs, feet;
- transformation of the rash into circular nodes or discs;
- transformation of tumor lesions into seals from 1 to 5 cm;
- nodes merged with each other, prone to ulceration;
- tenderness of the plaques, especially when pressing.
There is a special type of disease that is characteristic of men with HIV infection or AIDS:
- bright color stains;
- localization of the tumor on the tip of the nose, mucous membranes and hands;
- rapid progression with defeat of internal organs and lymph nodes.
