How does the cork look pregnant?

Each of us, being in an "interesting" position, and even if not the first time, considers all possible options for starting a nine-month race to receive the most important reward in life - meeting with the long-awaited baby. To foresee the behavior of one's organism in the process of the beginning of labor, it is impossible, but to stock up knowledge of the precursors of its offensive in order to know how to behave in this or that situation is simply necessary. Suppose that the onset of the onset of labor is indicated by the departure of the mucous plug.

A few words about what is and how the cork looks pregnant. Nature provides that after conception and before going out into the world, the fetus needs protection from infections, and therefore, a dense layer of cervical mucus possessing bactericidal properties is formed in the hole of the cervix as a so-called plug. Approaching the date of birth, the gradual opening of the cervix leads to its softening, displacement and, accordingly, release. Thus, the cork comes out through the vagina and is a small piece of mucus of a dense gel-like consistency. Associations about what mucous plugs look like in the women who gave birth are different: it is associated with egg white, jelly, jellyfish, silicone, cowberry jam, and so on.

The color of the mucous plug may vary depending on how much time is left until the delivery itself: the departure of the cork presages the onset of labor, both within a few hours, and a few weeks before their onset. If, for example, the expected date of birth is still far away, the mucus leaves clear or white-yellow. The fact that you very soon become a mother, will testify to the pink, reddish or brownish color of the cork, possibly with veins of blood. This is due to the rupture of the capillaries when the cervix is opened. If suddenly the mucous discharge is liquid and colored in a bright scarlet color, you need to consult the doctor without delay - this may be a signal that the placental abruption has begun.

How to find out what the cork is coming off?

The size of the mucous plug is about 2 tablespoons, so, believe me, its output is noticeable, and to miss it it is necessary to try very hard. In most cases, it occurs during urination, in the morning or during the day. Even if the cork is completely released into the toilet, blotting out the intimate place, the remains of mucous secretions will remain on the toilet paper. It is also possible to leave the cork for several days in parts, which is similar to the discharge at the end of menstruation.

Each childbirth gives birth in its own way, so do not panic if they do not start with the cork. In this situation, it can go away, for example, after a period of fights along with amniotic fluid.

So, the plan of action, if the cork has departed, is the following:

  1. First you need to calm down and watch your feelings. Of course, just in case, it is better to prepare everything necessary for the maternity home and prepare yourself, including morally.
  2. If there are no new sensations, then your "X" hour has not yet come, but you need to be ready: birth can begin at any time.
  3. If you are worried or embarrassed by the way a prenatal cork looks, it will not be superfluous to be safe and go to your local gynecologist or the doctor on duty at the hospital. At the same time, be prepared for the fact that a vaginal examination can develop a generic activity, so it is better to immediately go to a consultation with things.
  4. If after the removal of the cork appear aching pain in the lower abdomen or regular contractions, you are, as they say, "ripe". Collect things in the hospital! It is possible that very soon you will become a mother. Successful birth!
