How to connect a chandelier?

If you're wondering how to properly connect a chandelier, but you have a very vague idea of where your plugs are in your house, it's best to leave it to professionals. After all, switching off the electricity in the house is the first priority, which is vitally important to fulfill. And, regrettably, in this case the word "vital" is not an artistic epithet. If you are very doubtful about your abilities, remember that no matter how much you connect a chandelier, your life is more expensive.

So, suppose that you still know how to twist the plugs and even a little remember the electrical circuits from the school course of physics, as well as brave and full of enthusiasm. We will give you simple instructions on how to deal with this tricky business.

A simple option (two wires from a chandelier and two from a ceiling)

In this case, most people, and even some unscrupulous electricians, connect the chandelier as if it were horrible. Whichever of the wires of the chandelier you connect to the wire on the ceiling, and in what order, the result should be one - the chandelier will shine. Of course, in the event that it is screwed with suitable light bulbs. Ideally, one of the phase wires (in this case they are both) should be opened by a switch, but if this is your first chandelier connection, do not worry.

A more complex option (two wires from the ceiling, and from the chandelier - three or more)

If you are thinking how to connect wires to a three-or five-lobed chandelier, and see only two wires sticking out of the ceiling, you can forget about saving light. This scheme allows you to include only all the bulbs at the same time. The only thing that will save the situation is the purchase of a dimmer - a special device, twisting which you can adjust the intensity of light at will. The plus of this option is that usually in relatively new chandeliers the wires are already connected and the connection occurs according to the scheme described above.

Advanced version

The most difficult, but also the most common phenomenon - the need to connect a three-wire chandelier to three wires hanging from the ceiling. For this, first of all, it is necessary to determine which of the wires is zero (the other two in this case are phase ones). Then you can clearly follow the diagram below. Not only it is easier, but also safer to do it with the help of an indicator screwdriver, which looks like this:

Touch each of the wires with a screwdriver, and see which one the indicator responds differently from the others. This wire will be zero. The remaining two are phase ones.

If there is no indicator screwdriver, it is also possible to select a neutral wire. To do this, you simply need to pair them in turn in pairs to the chandelier. Here the wire will be zero, without which the light will not burn.

Sometimes wires, especially if they are new, can be marked with special notations that will help you to figure it out without a screwdriver and experiments. Especially successful, if they are also marked with different colors that match each other. Pay attention to this, if you are trying to figure out how to connect a chandelier with LEDs, often the colors of the wires in them make it very convenient.

Now back to how all this bunch of wires connect. The zero wire is combined with one of the phase wires - they are twisted, clamped with pliers and put on the terminal. Now you get two wires from the ceiling and a few pairs of wires on the chandelier (depending on how many horns). We recall which of the wires from the ceiling is zero, and attach to it one wire from the pairs that go to the illumination of each of the chandelier plafonds.

The remaining wiring is connected to the phases and the connection is made.
