How to use the mounting foam?

The mounting foam is most often used to seal and insulate the room. It perfectly copes with small gaps left after installing windows or doors, and prevents heat leakage. It also makes interesting crafts (most often garden figures). In addition, building foam is a fairly inexpensive material that is very easy to use. Before using the mounting foam, you just need to remember a few important points related to its use.

Types of foam

There are two types of construction foam: professional and household. Your choice in this case will depend on the purposes for which you will use it. Professional sealant will be indispensable for long-term construction and insulation of large rooms. While it is more convenient to use household mounting foam when one-time use is necessary on a small area. It should also be mentioned that a professional foam can be used up to the full flow of the bottle, and household sealant will serve only once.

How to use a construction foam?

Let's consider step by step how correctly to use a mounting foam:

  1. First of all, heat the cylinder with sealant in warm water and shake. This will reduce the consumption of mounting foam.
  2. Install a gun or a special tube on the cylinder.
  3. Strip and wet the surface to be treated.
  4. After this you can proceed directly to the use of mounting foam. Gently push the valve or gun lever to adjust the sealant outlet. An important point is that when working the balloon must be kept "upside down". So the components of the foam are better mixed.
  5. When the work is done, wait until the foam dries. The material is polymerized completely in 7-12 hours.
  6. Cut off excess foam with a stationery knife.

Than to wash off a mounting foam?

While the polymerization process has not yet been completed, it is possible to remove the foam from the surfaces with the help of special solvents or acetone. If the sealant is already frozen, then it can be cleaned only by mechanical action. Therefore, it is best to use rubber gloves, it is much easier than to wash off the mounting foam from the hands at the end of the work.
