And all because only here you can observe a unique natural phenomenon - amazing patterns under the cover of ice from frozen gas bubbles. Incredibly, it turns out, the whole winter at the bottom of the lake the plants continue to live, producing methane. In the form of bubbles, the gas gradually rises and accumulates beneath the surface. And when there are temperature changes, thicker ice manages to capture them so much at different depths that visually it seems as if frozen columns from frozen balls of different sizes stretch to the bottom of the lake!
2. Lake Baikal, Russia.
The fact that this lake is unique and it has no equal on the whole planet is known even to the first-grader. Yes, it is the oldest and deepest in the world with the most transparent and pure water, which is exactly 20% of all the world's fresh liquid stocks.
And, of course, Baikal will be amazing with its beauty in spring, summer and autumn, but ... only in winter and only its surface is adorned with unique cone-shaped ice hills - hills that grow 6 meters in height and absolutely hollow inside!
3. Jokulsarlon, Iceland.
It seems that if there are some winter fairies, they certainly should live in the "lagoon of the ice river", because that's exactly what the name of the lake is translated from Icelandic. And by the way, it is not only considered the most famous landmark of the country, but also relates to its natural wonders. But indeed, the sight of drifting ice floes against the background of the northern lights fascinates!

4. Blue pond, Hokkaido, Japan.
Do you think that these are all the tricks of "Photoshop"? But no, that's how the artificial pond "Blue Pond" looks in the coldest part of the year.
