Jurong

Jurong - a landscape park in Singapore , located on the slope of the hill of the same name about half an hour's drive from the city of Singapore, the largest among Asian bird parks and one of the largest in the world. More than 9 thousand birds from Southeast Asia, Africa, North and South America, Europe (more than 600 species) have found shelter here. For each species of birds, the most comfortable conditions of existence have been created (for example, monsoon showers are specially arranged for the inhabitants of the tropics, and so that visitors can observe owls and other birds that are nocturnal during their activity, their pens are specially exchanged day and night ).

The park occupies 20 hectares, and annually it is visited by about one million tourists. The main feature of the Jurong Park is the creation of the most comfortable for the birds environment - no restrictions on the movement of the enclosures; visitors seem to fall into the natural habitat of birds, which, by the way, can not only be watched - unlike many similar ones, here they can be fed. The territory of the park is visited by a panorama - an air-conditioned monorail train, where traveling through the park will be much less tiring than walking. He travels around the park, the length of the route is 1.7 km. Inside the enclosures, the train makes stops.

Thematic zones

Right at the entrance visitors are greeted by pink flamingos living in the lake. The whole park is divided into thematic zones. The largest in terms of the number of species represented is the "Birds of South-East Asia" zone: 260 of the 1,000 existing species of these birds live here. It is the largest collection of such birds in the world. The natural habitat for such birds are the jungle and they are carefully recreated here along with temperature, humidity and even regular tropical thunderstorms.

"Penguin Beach" - a zone in which the most diverse species of the penguin family live; there are about 200 of them here. At their disposal are artificial ponds, stone grottoes, cliffs - in short, everything that is needed (including powerful air-conditioning units for cooling air), so that the penguins feel comfortable.

"Pavilion with a waterfall" is distinguished by a very high roof, and the world's highest waterfall created by human hands is also represented here. In this zone, birds from Africa, Asia and South America live - only about one and a half thousand individuals. Also amazing is the abundance of exotic plants - there are about 10 thousand of them.

One of the most popular is the "Pavilion with Parrots" , where more than 110 species of parrots, including speakers (total number - 6 hundred), live in natural conditions. The pavilion occupies 3 thousand m & sup2, and the grid, which limits its height, is stretched at the level of the tenth floor. Twice a day there is a performance, during which the talking parrots count to ten in different languages, congratulate birthday people and perform other commands of their trainer.

Paradise birds owe their name to a bright, unusual plumage. On the planet there are 45 species, 5 of which you can see in the pavilion "Paradise birds" . The park's achievement is that the twelve-first Paradise birds were bred here.

Admire the hummingbird and other colorful inhabitants of the forests of South America in the pavilion "Treasure of the Jungle" .

The pavilion "World of Darkness" shows visitors the life of different night birds - owls, goats and others. In this pavilion, as it was mentioned above, day and night are exchanged: for tourists to be able to observe birds during their activity, during the day, twilight is created with the help of a special system, and at nightfall outside the pavilion, it includes light, creating birds " morning". You will see here both the northern polar owls, and the southern ones - the yellow fish owls that inhabit the mangrove forests.

In the pavilion with a loud name "Flightless Birds" you can watch ostriches, on the "Swan Lake" from a special deck admire the swan-swans, black and white swans, and in the "Pelikanov Cove" look at the pelicans of seven species, including the curly pelican, which is listed in the Red Book. African marshlands offer to get acquainted with the birds of this continent, including storks, and in the lakeside channel, called "River Gulf", you can watch the turtles, ducking ducks and other water birds through the big glass.

The pavilion "Toucans and Birds-Rhinoceroses" offers visitors 25 open-air cages with a height of about 10 meters, where you can see South American toucans and South Asian rhino birds. The collection of these birds is also one of the largest in the world.
