The palace of the emperor of Japan is officially called the Imperial Palace of Tokyo (Tokyo Imperial Palace). It is located in a special district of Chiyoda in the place of the former castle of shoguns - Edo, belongs to the metropolis of Tokyo. The Palace of the Emperor in Tokyo is a real huge architectural complex, whose buildings are built not only in the traditional style, but also in the European one. The whole complex of palace buildings is subordinated to the Administration of the Imperial Court of Japan. During the bombing in the Second World War, the palace was badly damaged, but after it was completely restored.

How to visit the palace?

Access to the interior of the Imperial Palace in Japan to ordinary tourists is limited. Currently, only the Oriental Garden (Koyo Higashi Göyen) is free to visit the complex and make a photo of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo only from the side. Logging in to other objects is prohibited.

The schedule of the park is drawn up by the Ministry of the Court and directly depends on the ceremonial activities in the palace, in which the family of the emperor participates. Visits are possible on weekdays from 10: 00-13: 30, but on Mondays and sometimes Fridays the palace is often closed. The residence is open to all visitors only twice a year: December 23 - the birthday of the Emperor (the date changes) and the New Year .

To visit the residence of the Emperor of Japan, you must apply in advance for an excursion to the Imperial Palace Agency and receive approval. Then come with a time reserve to the appointed time with a passport. Excursions are conducted in Japanese and English.
