Krasnodar Region attracts tourists not only with resorts located on the Black Sea coast, but also with its natural attractions, such as the blue lake Abrau-Dyurso.
Where is the Abrau-Durso lake?
Find the largest freshwater lake in the Krasnodar Territory is very simple. It is located in the western part of the region on the Abrau peninsula. It's easiest to get to it from the port of Novorossiysk, for this you should drive 14 km in the west direction (road to Anapa ). On its bank there is a village of the same name and a well-known factory for the production of champagne and table wines.
The Abrau-Dyurso lake is filled with two rivers flowing into it: Abrau and Durso, and there are springs on its bottom. But where it goes is unknown, since the parameters of the reservoir do not change: the length is 2 km 600 m, and the maximum width is 600 m.
Origin of the Abrau-Durso lake
There are several versions of how this reservoir was formed. Scientists believe that this could happen for several reasons:
- because of the collapse of the karst layer (hence the name "Abrau", because in Abkhazian "abgarra" means failure;
- on this site was the Cimmeria freshwater sea, which was formed after the World Flood;
- after huge landslides.
The opinion of local residents on the account of the origin of the Abrau-Durso lake is reflected in an interesting legend. On her on the bank of the river lived the Adygeans. One day a rich man's daughter fell in love with a poor man. The girl's father, when he found out about this, was against their union. During one of the holidays in the village, the rich began to throw bread into the water, which angered God, and the whole settlement fell into the ground, and this place was filled with water. But the young people in love remained alive, as they had escaped from the village the day before. The girl then sobbed for a long time on the shore of the lake and even wanted to drown herself, but she could not. The locals say that where she stepped into the water, now a flickering path leading from one side of the lake to the other is visible.
Rest on the Abrau-Durso lake
Amateurs come here quietly to relax, as from the entertainment here there are only walks on the lake on the catamarans and fishing, and also you can visit the wine factory "Abrau-Durso" with a tour.
Tourists who come here can stay in campsites built on the shore of the lake. Next to them there is a small sandy beach where you can sunbathe and buy. The water here heats up fairly well (up to +28 ° C). For the first time people who have seen the lake are surprised by its unusual color - blue emerald. The water in the lake is clean, but not transparent, because it shows a high limestone content.
The depth of Abrau-Dyurso lake allows lovers of fishing to do their favorite thing. Promotes this and the range of fish that live in it: carp, perch, rudd, minnow, several kinds of crucian carp, trout, goldfish, white cupid, bream, ram, carp. And besides this, there are crayfish, crabs and even snakes. You can only fish with an ordinary boat on a fishing tackle all year, except for the spring spawning period of the fish.
Near the village is a beautiful valley, along which flows a small river, the spreading hills are covered with relict trees, pyramidal poplars, oaks, hornbeams, and also beautifully flowering bushes. In the aggregate, all these natural factors give an opportunity to relax perfectly from the city fuss.
