Langtang

Plant and animal life of the Langtang Valley

The undergrowth of bright rhododendrons can be seen in all its glory in May - when buds bloom on the bush. Where the alpine climate enters the right, vegetation changes, becomes poorer and less frequent, and then disappears altogether, giving way to snow-covered areas.

How to get to Langtang Park?

It is most convenient to get to this mountainous area by car or bus from Kathmandu , heading north-east along the highway, through the town of Dhunche and the settlement of Syabru-Besi. It is the starting point before the ascent. Further it is necessary to go on foot along pack tracks along the beautiful river Tzizuli, rising higher and higher along the gorge.
