New Year in Norway

New Year in Norway is not celebrated on such a scale as in Russia. In general, in Norway, as in most European countries, Christmas is more popular. But this does not mean that the New Year passes unnoticed.

The Norwegian New Year is held under the auspices of the dwarf Jylenissen and the legendary goat, which in each family on New Year's Eve leave dry oat ears. Julenissen, although similar to his foreign colleagues - Santa Claus and Santa Claus - gives children only small souvenirs, and fulfills this important mission not at all overnight. However, children do not take offense, because they perfectly understand that the respectable fairy-tale old man does not have enough strength to cope with all tasks in one New Year's Eve.

Adults do without gifts at all, except ... ordinary matches. They are presented to each other as a symbol of family comfort (hearth) and warmth.

New Year in Oslo

In the Norwegian capital, the holiday begins with an active holiday. On December 31, early in the morning, Norwegians go skating, skiing, sledging, snowboarding. The whole day they spend with their family, closer to evening gather for family and friendly evenings (again, families). It is believed that the New Year is a real family holiday, therefore in bars and nightclubs this festive evening is much fewer people than usual. Nevertheless, the festive programs in the clubs are bright and memorable. Those who are 24 years old are especially recommended to attend festive evenings at the Medalion bar and the nightclub Sikamikaniko, and the chic program at the Stratos hotel will attract more sedate guests.

Those who like to celebrate the New Year in a large crowd on the street, like a great celebration near the building of the City Hall. Exactly at midnight the Norwegians open champagne, congratulate each other and enjoy the colorful salute above the City Hall building.

Norwegian Lapland

This is a unique place where you should definitely visit all those who ordered tours to Norway for the New Year. Everyone knows that Lapland is the "home" of Santa Claus. But very few people know that in fact Lapland is not a single state, but an ethnic region divided between four states. In Norwegian Lapland there is the Reindeer Herding School, the Saami Theater, the Institute of the Nordic Countries. Here live only about 3 thousand inhabitants and almost 100 thousand deer.

Those who go to New Year in Norway get a unique opportunity to meet the holiday surrounded by fairy elves and gnomes, this Santa Claus with a reindeer team. Children costume show, arranging every new year, definitely enjoy it. Adults will have the opportunity to relax away from the hustle and bustle, in comfortable cottages, to go skiing, snowmobiling, to enjoy winter fishing, a hot bath, to see the beauty of the northern lights. You can join the ethnic culture: children will be delighted by riding on deer sleds, gatherings in the plague around the fire.

New Year in Tromso

This is an unusual holiday in the present northern conditions. Tromsø is located beyond the Arctic Circle, it is called the "gateway to the Arctic", "Northern Paris". The city center is located on a small island of Tromsay, very small, you can get around on foot. The city has an airport, a seaport, but there is no railway, as the city is surrounded by a mountain landscape. The celebration of the New Year in Troms includes a mandatory trip to the Santa Claus farm: polar landscapes, Northern Lights, unique buildings more than a century ago, the corresponding architecture. Santa Claus himself meets guests in the Lapar plague and offers to join the tea party.

The entertainment program in Tromsø is extensive: sleigh rides harnessed by Laiki, panoramic flights over the city, skiing and snowshoeing, fishing (sea and ice), whale safaris.
