Bradycardia is one of the types of arrhythmia, disturbance of the heart rhythm, in which its frequency is 55 and fewer beats per minute. Such a frequency of cuts can be a variant of the norm, for example, in athletes, but most often it is a pathology fraught with serious complications.
What is the danger of a bradycardia?
Like any disruption of the heart, the bradycardia is dangerous. With a decrease in the heart rate, the body begins to lose oxygen. It is fraught with dizziness, increased fatigue, general weakness, pain in the heart, violation of attention and memory, short-term fainting. In severe cases (pulse below 40 strokes), an operation and implantation of an electronic rhythm driver may be required to solve the problem.
The causes of bradycardia
The causes of this condition are very diverse. The most common are:
- heart disease (myocardial infarction, cardiosclerosis);
- head trauma and brain disease (increased intracranial pressure, cerebral hemorrhage, tumors, edema, meningitis, etc.);
- influence of medicinal preparations (reserpine, digitalis, quinidine, verapamil, nifedipine, morphine);
- influence of external factors (malnutrition, hypothermia);
- an increase in the tone of the parasympathetic nervous system;
- lead poisoning, nicotine;
- decreased thyroid function;
- infectious diseases (jaundice, hepatitis , general sepsis).
As can be seen, bradycardia attack is most often a symptom of a serious illness requiring medical intervention. However, in addition to classical medicine are used in the treatment of bradycardia and folk remedies, as auxiliary and supporting methods.
