Geographically, the National Park is located west of the small town of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia . The Finke Gorge National Park is a unique neighborhood of many species of plants, including the rare Red Kebbird palm tree, which only grows in such large numbers. And Liviston's palm grows only in this place. It is believed that this "Palm Oasis" is what is left of the very ancient rain forest that has been greening in these places more than 60 million years ago. By the way, the Finke River basin itself is also considered to be one of the oldest on the planet: according to scientists' calculations it was formed more than 350 million years ago.

The Finke Gorge national park is an important natural object of Australia, but it is also of great cultural significance for the Aboriginal people from the Western Arrertte tribe. From the Finke gorge, a good road starts running along the river of the same name, it will take you to the source of Illamurta Springs and further to the neighboring National Park "Vatarka".

How to get to the National Park "Gorge Finke"?

The most convenient route to the park is expensive from Alice Springs - only 138 kilometers, which you can easily overcome it in 1.5-2 hours by car.
