What is a pin?

Pin - a design used to strengthen the root canal. Such fasteners for removable and stationary prostheses are installed.

By the type of material, the pins are differentiated into the following groups:

1. Anchor supports. It can be produced both from expensive alloys (for example, platinum or gold), and from titanium or stainless steel.
2. Rods made of fiberglass. These fixatives are hypoallergenic. They do not react with the prosthesis and are considered an excellent option for those patients who are allergic to metal.

5. Parapulpary supporters. The holder itself is made of metal, which is then coated with a polymer.

Installing the pin in the tooth

The pin in the root of the tooth is attached in two ways:

• actively, that is, screwed;
• passively - is attached to cement or other dental substance.

Restoring the tooth with a pin is usually performed in several stages:

1. The nerve is removed in the root canal.
2. The root canal is sanitized.
3. The rod is inserted into the maxillofacial bone. The prosthesis is being prepared for installation. The accreted tooth should exactly repeat the size and shape of its predecessor.
4. The construction is fixed with a special material with a sealing effect.
5. At the nearest visit to the doctor (usually the next day), the product is adjusted and final polished.

But building a tooth on a pin is not the only procedure that can be performed using holders. With the help of such rods, crowns are also installed. Moreover, when installing crowns, not only a titanium pin inserted into the resuscitated tooth can be used, but also cultic tabs.

Possible complications
