Planetarium (Kuala Lumpur)

In the Lake Park of the Malaysian capital there is a tourist attraction that attracts both tourists and local residents. This is the Negara Planetarium, a major educational center, a symbol of the state program for creating a free educational and educational environment for children. The planetarium can be seen from almost anywhere in the capital.

A bit of history

The planetarium in Kuala Lumpur began to be built in 1990. In 1993 the construction was completed, and in May of the same year the planetarium received its first visitors. However, its solemn opening took place only on February 7, 1994; Prime Minister of Malaysia Mahatir bin Mohamad took part in the ceremony.

In 1995, the planetarium was transferred to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, which is its co-owner. Today he is running the National Space Agency of Malaysia.

Architecture

The planetarium is built taking into account national and religious traditions - its building from a distance resembles a mosque . The structure has a spherical roof bright blue. The entrance to the complex is similar to a portal from some science fiction film.

The building is very beautiful staircase, which is flanked by water cascades. On both sides of the stairs trees are planted.

The complex consists not only of the building itself of the planetarium. Here are also:

  • park of ancient observatories.
  • What is in the building of the planetarium?

The halls contain expositions devoted to astronautics, astronomy and other sciences:

    1. The chemistry room , where Mendeleyev's table can be studied in a very entertaining way, since to each of its elements are compared the objects familiar to us containing them.
    2. The physics room - it is very fond of schoolchildren, because here you can conduct many experiments. Many of them here do their homework.
    3. In the halls devoted to cosmonautics , you can see the situation of the space station, the satellite model, the working model of the rover and many others. other; you can feel like a real astronaut, trying to do something with the hands on which the gloves are worn from the spacesuit. You can go and in weightlessness - in one of the rooms of the planetarium is a pipe in which this effect is created due to a large angle of inclination. By the way, a tour of the planetarium is carried out by a robot.
    4. Observatory , similar to the minaret (it has a beautiful view of Kuala Lumpur).
    5. A cinema hall under the dome, in which popular science films are shown, as well as feature films in the science fiction genre.
