Planting of grapes

There are not many people in the world who do not like grapes. The benefits and excellent gustatory qualities of grapes are known for a long time. Thousands of years ago, a man learned to cultivate grapes, and since then he has grown it in various climatic conditions, achieving in this business of unprecedented success. Today we will talk about how to properly plant grapes in the Russian climate.

Where to plant grapes?

  1. First of all, you need to choose the right place for planting grapes. Where to plant grapes depends, first of all, on natural conditions. If we are talking about the northern or middle zone of viticulture, then in the vineyards will have to fight for increased heat. This can be done by placing the vineyards in a vacant place and protecting the planted area with trees and shrubs. In conditions of a humid climate, it is necessary to plant the vine bushes at a sufficient distance from each other to ensure ventilation and warming of bushes. In this case, the best place for the grapes will be a hillside or a loose ridge. The lack of irrigation can not be an obstacle to planting grapes. In this case, grapes are planted in places with the closest occurrence of groundwater.
  2. On a flat area, grape bushes are planted from the north to the south, and on sloping sites, planting is carried out across the slope to prevent possible slipping of the upper fertile soil layer.
  3. Many when planting grapes decide to put it next to the house. But do not forget that the distance from the house while this should be at least 2 meters. A closer landing risks being ruinous for the foundation of the house - it can crack or precipitate in a period of deep watering. Do not plant grapes from the northern side of the house - there he will develop many leaves, but a good harvest will hardly please.

Grape planting scheme

It is necessary to plan the planting of the vine bushes, considering the strong or weakly grown stalk it will be planted in this place: between the sparse seedlings it is necessary to leave a gap of 2.5 meters, and between the tall trees - 3-4 meters. It is also important to take into account both soil fertility and watering volumes. The poorer the soil and the less it is watered, the thicker it is to plant grapes. Gaps between rows of grapes should be left as wide as possible, so that it is convenient to water and treat them with chemicals.

Planting of grapes seedlings

In the literature, recommendations are given that it is necessary to plant grapes to a depth of 40-45 cm. But this way it should be deepened only in areas where there is a danger of freezing during snowless frosts - the east of Ukraine, Volgograd. To plant a seedling of grapes, you need to dig a hole 50 * 50 * 50 cm in size and pour a humus bucket, a glass of ash , a few buckets of fertile earth and carefully mix. Seedling is installed in the pit in such a way that its lower point ("heel") is at a depth of 35 cm and covered with earth to half. After that, the seedling should be watered abundantly (2-3 buckets of water) and after the land settles, fill the rest of the earth. When planting grapes cuttings in the fall, they are sheltered from possible frosts, falling asleep completely. When planting grapes in the spring, they are not necessary to cover, so the planting pit is finally filled up only in autumn, after pruning. If the planting of grapes is planned in autumn, then from the spring it is worthwhile to take care of the preparation and enrichment of the soil in the selected area: to introduce phosphate-potash fertilizers and to sow it with siderates . Before the beginning of the pore blossom, the syderates are mowed and dug to a depth of 15-20 cm.
