Orchid Park

In the center of the Malaysian capital is a landmark , which is worth a visit to all connoisseurs of the beautiful - Orchid Park, part of the Lake Park. More than 6000 plants of more than 800 species attract visitors from all over the world. Residents of Kuala Lumpur also often visit the Orchid Park to purchase plants and get tips for caring for them.

Park and its inhabitants

Orchids are famous for their species diversity - they are kind of champions in the plant world, the number of species exceeds 2 thousand. They differ in color, shape and size so that it is often difficult to imagine that they belong to the same family.

The nature of Malaysia is extremely suitable for these flowers, and in the forests you can find many species of wild orchids. And among the 800 species that grow in the park, you can see both those that occur in the wild, and epiphytic plants grown in special conditions: in the bark, special expanded polystyrene granules or even in brick crumbs.

The park is very well designed. Different in appearance and color, the orchids coexist with each other, emphasizing both their own beauty and the beauty of their neighbors. There are many ferns growing in the park: it is known that ferns are often added to the bouquets of orchids, so that the flowers look especially spectacular on their background, and in nature this neighborhood also allows the main plants of the park to show their beauty to the full.

Some of the orchids grow under the open sky, others - under a special roof, which protects plants from too bright sun. The most famous "inhabitant" of the Orchid Park is the Grammotophilum - a giant orchid, whose diameter is 2 m.

For irrigation of orchids, original systems are used, thanks to which flowers receive water almost in the same way as in the wild (that is, moisture is dispersed in the air in the form of small droplets). Such systems operate only when the park is closed to visitors.

In the park of orchids there are many benches and arbours for rest . You can come here not only to admire the orchids, but also to have a picnic on the background of beautiful landscapes. There is a pond in the territory, in which a variety of water lilies are in blossom.
