Rules of transportation of animals in Russia
So, transportation of animals across Russia is allowed in all types of cars. The exception is the SV cars and seats of high comfort. Your pet will travel in a special box, cage or basket, which by its dimensions should be free to be placed where the hand baggage is usually located. Regardless of how far you follow, you need a certificate for the transportation of animals, which is prescribed by the veterinarian. In addition, you will need a receipt called "Baggage on the hands of the passenger". You can get it directly at the station, paying for a separate place for luggage weighing up to 20 kilograms. These rules for transporting animals on the train apply to pets weighing less than 20 kilograms.
As for those dogs that weigh more than 20 kilograms, then there are special features. First, you will definitely need a muzzle, leash and veterinary certificate. Without these components, you simply will not be allowed to enter the car. Pay for dogs, depending on the rules, either individually, or as for 20 kg of luggage. If the dog is much heavier than 20 kg - the payment is made taking into account the actual weight of the animal. Pets can be placed in the following places:
- in luggage compartments of wagons, using a special container for transportation of animals, in the same car must accompany the escort;
- in the vestibule of the first car that follows the locomotive, the dogs are placed in an amount not exceeding two, with either owners or accompanying them watching them;
- if you want animals to ride comfortably, the rules allow animals to be transported in a separate compartment, but you have a duty to pay for all four seats.
We go abroad
As for the issue of transporting animals abroad, here you will have to be patient and with money. This is quite an uneasy and expensive business, besides, additional documents will be needed for transportation of animals. Most often, in addition to permission from the state veterinary station, which is to be exchanged for an international veterinary certificate, you may need permission from the cynological association of the country whose limits you are leaving. However, this is not all - most likely, additional documents will be required, in accordance with the rules of this or that country.
In addition, there are certain restrictions on the importation of dogs of some breeds, for example, to Spain, Italy, Sweden and Denmark it is forbidden to import fighting dogs.
There are also medical features: if you are going to bring a dog, say, to the UK, be prepared for the fact that the animal will have to spend about six months in a specialized clinic, since quarantine is stipulated by the rules
If you are the owner of exotic animals - for example, monkeys, pythons, parrots are also included here, then you should know that it is almost impossible to take them outside our country. Of course, you can try to get permission from the State Committee of the Russian Federation for the protection of the environment and, thus, to confirm that the animal was either born in the territory of our country, or acquired legally. But this process is long and time consuming.
