Birthmarks in children

In medicine, the appearance of benign neoplasms on the skin - nevuses - is explained by genetic predisposition. Let's consider in more detail why the birthmarks on the body of a child appear and how they can be dangerous.

The peculiarity of moles is that they can be seen after the birth of the child. To give an exact answer to the question, at what age children have birthmarks, it is impossible, because this process takes place in different ways. Some babies in 2-3 months have congenital birthmarks. And the first nevuses can be formed already in 1-2 years.

Predisposition to moles occurs even in the embryonic state of the body. The reasons why a child has birthmarks on his body are:

During the life of a birthmark a person continues to appear, and this may be due to hormonal changes in the body, skin problems (allergy, acne), transfer of infections, viruses, pregnancy, menopause, and exposure to the sun.

The nevuses differ in shape, color, size and intensity.

On the skin, a child may have a red mole - a hemangioma, or a vascular birthmark. It can occur in most newborns. Do not panic, because it does not pose a health hazard to the crumbs. If you are concerned about its unaesthetic, then you should know that, firstly, this neoplasm, most likely, will itself disappear. And secondly, modern medicine effectively and safely removes hemangiomas.

A special type of cutaneous deviation is Setton's nevus, when a white spot appears around the birthmark of the child, i.e. the skin on this site does not have a pigment. Most likely, this is the reaction of the skin to ultraviolet light or the effects of sunburn. Treatment is not required, for several years they disappear on their own, and the skin color again becomes normal.

Often the child shows convex birthmarks, which can be of different colors - from light brown to almost black. They cause more increased interest, because they are easier to damage, and, unlike flat nevuses, such birthmarks attract more ultraviolet rays. In fact, both of these birthmarks can be sources of problems equally.

Precautionary measures

The most dangerous complication of the birthmark is its malignancy, when it turns into melanoma - the neglected stage of the tumor.

One child may have many birthmarks on the body, but the other has only a few. A large number of nevi should not cause parents a cause for concern. With them you can safely live to a very old age. More dangerous than other signs, on which we will stop.

So, all parents should regularly inspect birthmarks in children and assess them according to such signs:

This does not mean that the mole becomes malignant, it's just an excuse to show the child to the doctor.

In addition, any mother should know those factors that are dangerous for moles. The main thing is the sun, especially if the child is blond and has light skin. And the second is damage to the birthmark. I am glad that these factors can be influenced. Sunscreen, light clothing, hats, bathing and sunbathing at the right time (morning and evening) are the rules that must be followed.

Particular attention should be paid to nevi, which are in places where they are easy to injure. Single injury is not dangerous. Worse, if the mole is constantly rubbed, for example by clothes, or combed. In such cases, there is a high probability of a malignant tumor. It is better to remove such birthmark, but only the specialist doctor should do it.
