Shamwari

The main ornament of the South of South Africa is the unique nature reserve Shamvari.

Invaluable human contribution to the rescue of wildlife

Situated amid an African bush, along the Bushmans river, Shamwari is the owner of the luxurious flora and fauna typical of African savannahs. The territory of the reserve is 20 thousand hectares.

Surprisingly, its owner is not the state, but the local resident is Adrian Gardiner. Since 1990, the head of the reserve has been engaged in the restoration of its ecosystem, which was under threat of destruction because of the predatory attitude of Europeans who mercilessly killed animals and destroyed plants. The efforts and financial investments of Gardiner were not in vain, Shamwari was repeatedly awarded international awards, the main one being the World's Leading Conservation Company and Game Reserve, for his outstanding contribution to the protection and rescue of wild animals.

Shamwari for tourists

Nowadays, the Shamvari nature reserve offers tourists a great holiday. There are 6 luxurious loggias on its territory. Shamvari Safari involves watching lions, buffalo, rhinoceroses, leopards, elephants, which local hunters called the "big five". Also in the reserve live cheetahs, zebras, hippos and about 18 species of antelope.

Particular attention is paid to the protection of the inhabitants of the Shamvari reserve. Round-the-clock patrolling of the territory is conducted on the ground and even from the air.

In addition to walking through the territory of the reserve visitors are invited to visit the African village of Kaya Lendaba, which is located nearby. A visit to the village introduces tourists to the customs and traditions of the local population.
