History of construction
The inauguration of the newly constructed theater center took place in the spring of 1981. This date is very important in the history of the whole country, because now the theatrical art has become more accessible to South Africans.
Almost twenty years later, the complex was reconstructed, which has now become a real house of art, where the South African people were presented with the best world productions, including such famous musicals as:

Several halls for productions of various types
The State Theater of South Africa has several thematic halls, each of which is focused on holding certain cultural events, demonstrating a specific direction of performing arts.
Opera hall
This is the largest part of the theater complex. It can simultaneously have 1300 spectators. Spectator seats are located on three levels, including - and a balcony.
In the orchestra pit can accommodate up to sixty musicians. The size of the pit itself is regulated - architects designed a retractable rear wall.
In addition to the stage and orchestra pit, there are:

Drama room
In the Drama Hall there are 640 spectators placed on one level. In the orchestra pit can accommodate up to 40 musicians.

- the main level is the mezzanine with a balcony.
Arena - rehearsal room
The rehearsal hall called Arena is not equipped with special seats for spectators. Free space is designed to install up to two hundred folding chairs.
To control lighting devices, computer technology is used, and for control of sound devices - equipment located in several technical rooms.
Rendezvous
Another part of the theater complex of Pretoria, which combined the theater and a small cafe. It appeared after reconstruction and restoration works.
In this room is modern decoration, attractive interior. Most often in the hall of Rendezvous are held:
- cabaret;
- performances of jazz bands;
- small theatrical productions;
- exhibitions of paintings, etc.
Also this hall is used for carrying out various private events, including presentations, dinner parties and the like.
