Stained glass windows

Many believe that the definition of "stained glass" is synonymous with the concept of "stained glass". In fact, these definitions have only one common feature - the basis for their implementation is glass . But otherwise they are completely different. Stained glass is an artistic composition, which is collected from small multi-colored pieces of glass. The product has a floral or complex plot theme, so for its manufacture you need to have a lot of experience with glass. Stained-glass windows are used for decoration of entrance doors, niches and windows.

Unlike the first, the stained glass glazing is made of a one-toned tempered glass and is often used for decorating the facades of public buildings, shopping centers, shop windows and cafes. However, with proper design, glass facades can be used for decorating a loggia, balcony or cottage. Projects of houses with stained glass windows can often be observed in the US and Canada. As a rule, the outer part of such a house looks absolutely ordinary, while the rear part, facing the courtyard, is made of durable glass. Through the panoramic wall penetrates a lot of light, and the view of the flowering garden or pool pleases the eye.

Types of stained glass

Depending on the profiles, frames and supporting systems used, the following types of stained glass systems can be distinguished:

These systems are used in the design of public buildings. For balconies and cottages use cheaper and easier to manufacture facades.

Stained glass glazed facades of apartments and houses

In a house or apartment, stained glass is used in the following cases:

  1. Panoramic walls in the house . This option of decoration is highly appreciated by progressive esthetes, who appreciate the beauty of the surrounding nature. Through the transparent walls penetrates a lot of light and opens an amazing view of the courtyard or garden. As a rule, houses with stained glass windows are built in reserved places, on rocks or in the woods, from where a magnificent view opens. The most accessible is the facade facade (you can use flat glass), and the most expensive is a faceless facade.
  2. Stained glass glazing of balconies . It is carried out according to Finnish and French technology. The technology of balcony glazing in Finnish consists in the refusal to use window frames in favor of aluminum profiles passing along the perimeter of the opening. For the manufacture of the doors use tempered glass, transparent, matt or tinted, which can withstand any loads. In French technology, stained glass is made from floor to ceiling. Each glass is in the aluminum profile, which gives the structure the necessary rigidity and strength.
  3. Stained glass glazed loggias . In view of the large area for the loggia, French technology is more appropriate. It is important that the work was done taking into account additional insulation (heated floors, batteries, three- or four-chamber double-glazed windows). In a pinch, the apartment with stained glass windows of the loggia will be subject to drafts.

The design of the balcony with stained glass glazing involves the use of light translucent curtains, which do not interfere with the penetration of light. Some owners set up a coffee table and a couple of chairs on the loggia.
