Beginning of the school year, traditionally with excitement not only pupils but also parents are waiting, especially for those whose child went to the first class. September 1 marks the beginning of a fundamentally new stage in the life of every baby. Now the leading kind of his activity is learning, which implies the emergence of responsibility and independence. Equally important, this event is also for parents, because the first days of the child in school are very important - they set the tone for all further education and the motivation of a small schoolchild depends on how well they are organized and presented.
Most kids dream about the day when they are smart, with a new portfolio and beautiful notebooks in it will go to school. As a rule, lessons are drawn in the imagination with an idyllic picture, in most cases there is no fear of unfamiliar surroundings, especially if the child has attended a kindergarten, and he is not afraid of the academic load, because he simply does not yet know what it is. The main danger of the first days of a first-grader in school is that they do not justify his hopes and, as a consequence, the child's motivation, so strong at the beginning, will quickly subside and come to naught. That is why it's important to properly set up and prepare the child for the beginning of the school year.
How to properly prepare a child, in order to avoid problems of adaptation to the school ?
- In advance, explain to the child the structure of school activities so that he understands all seriousness and responsibility. It is not necessary to embellish, but also to frighten with terrible loads and "malicious teachers" too it is impossible. Let your stories about the school be as realistic as possible. In order to form more specific ideas, a few days before the beginning of the school year, you can reduce the baby to school on an excursion;
- considerable attention should be paid to the process of preparing for the first school day in school - acquiring school uniforms, stationery, wrapping up textbooks and so on. The child must take an active part in this, his opinion must be taken into account. School accessories and accessories should he likes, so as not to cause discontent and not create additional problems during the adaptation period;
- in advance, start the child to accustom to the school regime, especially placing emphasis on sleep and awakening in order to exclude additional stressors;
- on the first day of school, you should create a hospitable and quiet environment at home - the baby will be given the slightest nervousness and anxiety;
- Do not sit the child for the lessons immediately after he came from school - a first-grader needs a full rest and maybe even a dream. At first, do not try to get rid of help with homework - it should take at least a month for the child to understand that this is solely his task;
- Do not put excessive hopes on the child and do not bring up unhealthy ambitions in him,
that he should be the best student in the class, otherwise the child will always live in fear not to meet your expectations; - Do not compare the child's successes with the marks of his friends and classmates, do not discuss his failures aloud with the teacher and in the family - this can have a negative impact on the child's self-esteem. If you have any problems - do not rush to blame your first-grader at once - first, you will understand the situation;
- Give the child to understand that regardless of his successes and failures in school, he can always count on your patience, help and support;
- Do not take the first failure of the baby as a personal failure and the collapse of all hopes. The child must feel that his house is loved and accepted as he is.
