The Botanical Garden (Copenhagen)


The Botanical Garden of Copenhagen is an incredibly beautiful landscape park, which is located opposite Rosenborg Castle. By the way, the world-famous Royal Garden is adjacent to the latter. It will not be superfluous to note that this beauty was founded in the far 16th century and today it has the largest collection of living plants in Denmark - about 10 thousand species.

True, its truly magnificent appearance botanical garden acquired only four years ago. Prior to this, the attraction was not receiving the necessary funding, and after it invested 17 million DKK, the garden revived, its territory was expanded by 10 thousand m 2 . In addition, several zones for recreation were added to it, a wooden pier, a modern irrigation system, appeared on the lake shore.

What to look at?

First of all, it is worth paying attention to the taxodium, the coniferous tree plant of the Cypress family. It has been growing here since 1806 and is the title of the oldest tree.

Be sure to admire the collection of herbaria and dried mushrooms brought to the botanical corner from around the world. In addition, it should be added that on its territory there is a geological museum with a collection of corals, amber and colorful stones. Going to the zoological museum, you will see skeletons of animals and stuffed birds, the historical museum will acquaint its visitor with the history of the development of wildlife, as well as its inhabitants. Perhaps, it's worth visiting the library - only here you can find so many books on botany.

Forever flowering greens, fascinating beauty fountains and bizarre statuettes - all this creates a certain special atmosphere. A glass multi-storey palm greenhouse, the area of ​​which is 3 thousand m 2 , was designed in 1874 after the model of the Crystal Palace from the World Exhibition of London in 1854.
