Sophia Park in Uman has long and quite deservedly called one of the most beautiful and romantic places in Ukraine. Located on the banks of the Kamenka River, in the northern part of the city of Uman in the Cherkasy region of Ukraine. Sophia Park has been striking visitors for more than two centuries with the delicate beauty of exotic plants , ponds, cascades and waterfalls, grottoes and antique sculptures.
Sofiyivka: born of love
The history of the Sophia Park began in the distant 1796, when the Polish tycoon Stanislav Pototsky, enamored of his wife Sofia, decided to present her this masterpiece of landscape gardening to her. Myths and legends of Greece - the birthplace of Sophia - and the story of the Potocki family come to life in the architectural compositions of the park. The snow-white Pavilion of Flora, the terrace of the Muses, symbolic compositions, numerous statues of heroes of ancient traditions and philosophers were supposed to dispel the sadness of the Greek beauty.
