You are going to sit in the evening in social networks or watch a movie, but when you turn on the computer it turned out that the keyboard does not work on it, and you do not know what to do. Common situation? Although it happens not so often, but, probably, at least once in a lifetime a PC user has come across this trouble.
When there are problems with the keyboard on the computer, and it does not work, then the reasons for this situation are usually two:
- the hardware part has failed - the keyboard itself or the port through which it is connected to the system unit;
- lost the settings of the keyboard driver.

Diagnostics of the keyboard and USB port
If possible, the first step is to make sure that the keyboard is OK. To do this, it is connected to another computer. If it works with him, then the problem is in something else. If the keyboard does not show signs of life, then it's time to replace it with a new one, sad as it may seem.
A fairly common reason, when the computer does not work when the keyboard is turned on, is the USB port burnout or its failure. In order to make sure it is faulty enough to insert a cable from the keyboard into the other connector - good, there are several of them on the computer.
What are drivers and what are they for?
If you purchased a new keyboard in the store, and at home found that it does not work on the computer, it means that you will need to install the required driver. After carefully examining the contents of the box from the keyboard, you will find there is a disk, which is the installation driver to this keyboard:
- Using the mouse in the lower left corner, select the Start icon.
- Now in the right column, choose Control Panel
- You need to find the System and enter it by double-clicking with the mouse.
- On the left you will see a column that contains the Device Manager that we need by clicking on it, we get a list.
