What are these chypre scents?

The first creator of chypre fragrance and the founder of a new direction in perfumery was Francois Coty, who released his first chypre perfume in 1917. The name of the perfume of this type comes from the name of the island of Cyprus, which in French has the name "Chypre". Only on this island a special kind of oak moss grows, which gives the flavor the original color.

Many women wonder what "chypre fragrance" means? "Shipr" has a distinct smell of earthiness with notes of fresh citrus and wood.

Perfume with chypre aroma

CHANEL №19

This is the legendary female perfume, which was released in 1970 specifically for the even more legendary Mademoiselle Coco Chanel . The number "19" for the name is chosen for a reason - it means the date of birth of the French fashion designer.

Red Moscow

The last vivid example of a chypre fragrance is "Red Moscow". It is a symbol of the Soviet era. The history of these spirits begins in 1913, when the French perfumer Brocard created for the wife of Emperor Alexander III Maria Feodorovna a bouquet of wax flowers.

The peculiarity of this gift was that each flower had its own smell, which did not differ from the original, and when the flavors merged, it turned out to be a harmonious, fascinating single scent. Spirits with this smell have received the name "Favorite bouquet of the empress". Maria Feodorovna approved the perfume, and he instantly became the most desired prey for all women.

After the nationalization of the perfume factory, Brockar's associate Agust Michel, who did not want to remove the perfume from the production, became its leader, but he realized that the perfume with such a name would not "live" in the new state, and gave him another name - "Red Moscow" while retaining the original flavor.

Top notes: bergamot, orange color, coriander.

Middle notes: jasmine, Nepal, rose.

Base notes: iris, tonka beans, vanilla.
