Halva at home

Halva is a very popular oriental dessert made from seeds or nuts with the addition of sugar, oil, and sometimes some other ingredients. Of course, this sweetness can be bought, but many are wondering how to make homemade halva.

Halva can be cooked not only from peeled sunflower seeds, but also from peanuts, hazelnuts, walnuts, etc. - there are many options.

Sunflower halva

So, a simple recipe for homemade halva from sunflower seeds.

First, lightly roast the seeds in a dry frying pan, and then let them pass twice through the meat grinder (you can use the combine). In the same pan, lightly brown the flour, stirring with a wooden spatula. Mix the flour with the ground seeds, then once again rotate through a meat grinder or bring the blender to homogeneity. Now we are preparing the syrup: sugar is poured in water, brought to a boil over medium heat, we remove noise, reduce the flow of fire to small and boil for 3-4 minutes. Gently pour the sunflower oil into the hot syrup, whisk with a whisk. Gradually add the prepared mass of seeds and flour. We bring it to uniformity and put it into oiled forms, or better - we cut it into roughly equal rectangular pieces, wrapped in parchment paper and placed under a press in the refrigerator. After a few hours (at least 4), halva of the seeds is ready for use.

Halva from nuts

Very delicious can turn out nuts halva home cooking.

In the hot milk or cream syrup, add the cornstarch, previously diluted in cold milk (1: 5) and, stirring, bring to a boil over low heat. The ground kernels of nuts should be fried in oil until golden brown, and then put into a saucepan, filled with the prepared milk-starch syrup, thoroughly mixed and tightly closed with a lid. We will heat the mass with another half an hour. Then we pour the mass onto a buttered dish and let it cool down.

Peanut halva

You can make delicious halva and peanuts.

Lightly roast the peanut kernels in a frying pan, and then move them using a combine or meat grinder. Flour browned in a dry frying pan and mixed with ground peanuts. We pour oil and mix thoroughly. Prepare from the water and sugar thick syrup. All mixed and slightly cool.

About additives

In halva, in addition to these components, you can also add honey, eggs, sesame seeds and much more. This is more a matter of fantasy. Experiment with the components, of course, keeping a sense of proportion. It should be noted that when using honey, it should only be slightly heated, but do not bring to a boil. Nuts can be grinded finely or medium or combine different textures.

Add the chocolate

Delicious turns and halva in chocolate. To make such a halva, follow any of the above recipes, and then cut the mass into small pieces with a knife and allow to cool slightly, then roll each in the melted chocolate (you can then roll them in coconut chips - it will get even tastier) and dry it. Halva is served well with freshly brewed tea, coffee, mate, rooibos, lapacho.
