What to do with a burn?

Among domestic injuries, one of the most common is burns. Sooner or later, any person faces such a skin damage. Fortunately, household burns are rarely serious, and there are many tips on what to do in this situation.

Thermal burns

Perhaps, this trauma in everyday life occurs more often: a burn with steam or boiling water, obtained because you grabbed a hot pan or an iron, touched the burner with your hand.

The first thing to do with a thermal burn is to try to lower the temperature of the affected area of the skin. The simplest option is cold water. Place the burned area of the skin under a tap or a cold shower, preferably for 10-15 minutes. If there is no possibility to use cold water, any cold enough, but necessarily clean object (ice, a frozen piece of meat, wrapped in a bag and a towel) will do. In no case can the oiled area be oiled with oil, cream or other fat, as it is often recommended - the fat retains heat, which means it increases the damage and promotes the appearance of burn blisters.

After you have cooled the injured area, treat the skin with a product from burns.

With particular care, it is necessary to take care of the treatment of burns in children, because there are such factors as sensitivity, skin, allergic reactions to certain substances and much more. The most important treatment for a child's burn is antiseptic treatment. However, parents often face the question of how to treat the skin covered with blisters to simultaneously repair damaged tissues, alleviate pain and at the same time achieve the desired disinfecting effect. Zelenka and iodine - this is the last century, to which these funds are too aggressive for tender baby skin, prone to diathesis and irritation. Therefore, modern pediatricians recommend using antiseptic drugs based on silver salts, such as Sulfargin. This agent accelerates the healing process, reliably protects against bacteria and is safe for sensitive skin.

Solar burns

Many like to have a hot summer day on the beach. But it's worth noting a little, forgetting to put on sunscreen, and there is painful redness - a sunburn caused by exposure to ultraviolet rays. However, you can even get a sunburn by walking around the city, especially if the skin is light. Painful and unpleasant sunburns are not too dangerous, but are often accompanied by a general overheating and an increase in temperature.

If you still burned in the sun, take a cool shower or bath, then treat the reddened areas with special means - for example, panthenol. In addition to anti-burn sprays, you can use a moisturizing gel with aloe vera and compresses with a calendula tincture in a ratio of 1:10. Also, with sunburn, it is recommended to drink plenty of liquid, mineral water or soft tea is best to restore the water balance in the body. When the temperature rises, you need to take an antipyretic. The most famous folk method for treating sunburn is the lubrication of the affected areas with kefir or sour cream. Of course, this is not as effective as special anti-burn sprays, but it is quite capable of helping, especially if the burns are not strong.

When getting burns in a tanning salon, proceed in the same way as with sunburn, as skin lesions are of the same nature.

Chemical burns

For any chemical burn, first rinse the damaged area with running water to remove any residue of the substance. Wash the burn site for at least 10 minutes, but with a thin trickle, avoiding strong pressure.

  2. When burning with alkali, use a weak solution of citric acid or vinegar in cold water.
