Airports of Colombia

Colombia is a country with well-developed air transport . To list all airports in Colombia is quite difficult: there are more than 160 of them. More or less large ones are 24. The international airports of the country fully comply with all standards, and the main Colombian air harbor, the capital El Dorado, in terms of passenger traffic and cargo turnover is included in the Top 50 leading airports of the world.

  1. Bogotá :
    • El Dorado, Bogota's main airport is the largest in Colombia; almost 50% of all the take-offs and landings carried out in the country, is happening right here. The airport ranks first in Latin America in terms of cargo turnover, the second - in the number of take-offs / landings of aircraft and the third - in passenger traffic (annually it passes through itself more than 30 million passengers). Guaymaral is a joint-based airport; it also serves the flights of Colombia's Air Force vehicles.   2. Medellin :
    • Medellin Cordova. In the city of Rionegro is the international airport of Jose Córdoba. This is the second most important airport in Colombia, serving the largest (after Bogota) city of the country - Medellin. Air gates let through about 7 million passengers a year. From here, flights are made to the USA, Canada, Mexico, Panama , Peru , El Salvador, Spain, Aruba and the Antilles;
    • Airport Enrique Olaya Herrera. Medellin serves another airport, which accepts only domestic flights.
  3. Cartagena. The 5th largest city of the state serves the airport named after Rafael Nunez. It is the largest in the north of the Caribbean region of the country. Every year, Cartagena airport accepts flights both inside Colombia and international: from here it connects with New York, Montreal, Toronto, Panama City , Quito.
  4. Palmyra. In this Colombian city is located the 3rd most important airport of the country - Alfonso Aragon International Airport, or Palmiseca airport . Every year it serves more than 3.5 million passengers. It is an international airport, from Palmira there are flights to the cities:

  5. Barranquilla. The 4th largest city of Colombia and the largest port of the Caribbean region serves the airport to them. Ernesto Cortissos, located in the city of Soledad near Barranquilla . The airport is named after one of the first Colombian aviators. It ranks 5th in passenger turnover in the country. In addition to domestic, it serves flights to the USA and Panama.
  6. Cucuta. Another international airport operates in the capital of the department of Santander. It is named after Camillo Das, one of the founders of the Columbia Air Force. It is relatively small - it occupies only 11th place among other Colombian airports in terms of passenger traffic, however it serves not only domestic but also international flights. The traffic of the airport is constantly growing, including due to its proximity to the Pan-American highway.
