Amadins - breeding at home

Birds with beautiful bright plumage - amadins - belong to the family of finch weaver. These unpretentious birds are mobile, very trusting and easily kept in captivity. For breeding amadin at home, you need to know only a few features.

Amadins - reproduction and maintenance at home

Since amadins are flocking birds, it is better to plant a flock, although you can settle in a cage and a couple of birds - a male and a female. Ripen amadins very early and can easily breed in captivity. Therefore, one should be prepared for the fact that young birds of several months old can already acquire offspring.

However, the best age for reproduction is 6 months, with the optimal number of nests per year - three. Then it is necessary to arrange for the birds a rest period of at least six months. So you can avoid the depletion of the female amadin.

Breeding amadina chicks in closed nest houses. Inside such a house it is necessary to put dry grass, hay, sphagnum moss or coconut fiber. Some part of these materials must be put in a cage to the male, to stimulate it to start building a nest.

The Amadine female can lay 4 to 7 eggs in one masonry (one per day). The bird sits in the nest after the appearance of the fourth egg, and the males and the female take up the mating in turn. The duration of incubation lasts from 11 to 17 days.

Hatching chicks parents first fed semi-digested food. Chicks flock out of the nest on the 17-21 day. After this, the amadins feed their offspring for about a month.

To ensure that your amads are healthy and give offspring, they must be kept clean. For this, the cells must be regularly disinfected in order to avoid the appearance of the main enemies - bird tick and puffer.

Every week, you need to change the sand in the pallets of the cage. After this, using a solution of chloramine and carbolic water, it is necessary to wipe the entire cell from the inside, the feeder and the perch . Then a powder of chamomile is poured onto the bottom of the tray, covered with a sheet of clean paper and a layer of sand is poured on top.

In a cage, amadins should have a feeding bowl, a drinking bowl, and in a large enclosure there can be a bathing suit.
