The ceremony of presenting the important state award of the USA, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, was held recently in the White House. Medals from President Barack Obama were given to outstanding citizens of the country.

Its owners are actors Robert De Niro, Robert Redford and Tom Hanks, musicians Bruce Springsteen and Diana Ross, patrons Bill and Milinda Gates, basketball player Michael Jordan and TV journalist Ellen DeGeneres. The ceremony was personally conducted by the President of the United States of America, who in his speech noted that the winners this year were "particularly outstanding" personalities:

Force Majeure and Flashmob #MannequinChallenge

Such responsible activities rarely do without excesses. So well-known television presenter Ellen DeGeneres came to the White House without her identity card and because of this she did not want to be let in. How the celebrity was able to solve this problem is unknown, nevertheless, she got on handing the medal.

Barack Obama noted that in due time Madame DeGeneres made a very bold move, telling the public what belongs to the LGBT community. Twenty years ago such a cum-out could end very bad for a journalist's career.
