Bekkaskug is a castle in the Swedish city of Kristianstad . It was built 8 centuries ago and is still in excellent condition thanks to several major renovations that have been carried out over the past 400 years.
What attracts tourists Backkaskog?
The location of the castle is no less interesting than its history. Beckkasgug was built in the 13th century on a narrow stretch of land, between the waters of Ivoción and Orrmannion. This place was perfect for building a monastery: this was the first purpose of the castle. Bekkaskug was a religious structure until the middle of the XVI century. In 1537, during the Reformation, the castle lost its status and moved to the property of the family Ulfstand, after which he replaced several other masters. He did not undergo significant changes, but with every decade there was an increasing need for repair.
At the end of the XVII century the complex became the residence of the commander of the cavalry regiment. It was then that the first large-scale restoration took place, thanks to which to our days today we can admire the architecture of the castle. The last private owner was Gustav Ferlinius, who decided to turn the old building into a tourist object.
Since the middle of the last century, conferences, training courses, public lectures, festivals, weddings and picnics began to organize in Beckaskug. In the castle excursions were conducted in order to acquaint visitors with the architecture of the castle and the highlights in its history. And in 1996 Beckaskug became the property of the state, and in a short time it was rebuilt for a hotel complex.
Vacations in Baeckasqug
Backcross is one of the most interesting hotel complexes in the country. The ancient buildings are surrounded by a magnificent park with more than 100 species of plants. There are several places for family rest on its territory, and on the walking paths there are benches where you can sit down and enjoy the beauty. Here is a small vegetable garden, which recalls how the monks were farming.
In the rooms for the guests there is an ancient atmosphere. Everyone can feel like a member of a noble family by choosing spacious apartments with antique furniture or, conversely, a servants' house, where the interior is more modest. Each room is equipped with all amenities, so that tourists can try on one of the roles without prejudice to their rest.
Bekkaskug guests can enjoy several activities: horseback riding in Icelandic horses, tennis and exciting excursions around the castle.
In the castle there is a souvenir shop, in which the most interesting objects of everyday life are sold:

They have the appearance that they came here from the Middle Ages.
You can spend the evening at the local restaurant, which is located in the former Royal Family Dining Room. The interior is made in the appropriate style, and a visit to the restaurant will bring a lot of pleasure.

Beckaskug is 15 km from the city of Auchus and a 2-hour drive from the nearest major city of Malmö . You can get to the castle by car or a sightseeing bus.
