Litovelske Pomoravi


Litovelske Pomoravi is a unique Czech reserve. It attracts attention with a dense forest, juicy meadows, located along the river, caves, a variety of animals and plants. All the more surprising is that in the center of such a dense place is the city. The government of the Czech Republic cares about preserving the ecological value of the reserve, therefore, a network of bike trails was specially developed, which, on the one hand, allows tourists to see the whole park, and on the other, not to disturb the primeval nature.

Description

The protected landscape area of ​​Litovelske Pomoravi was established in 1990 and is located in the north of Central Moravia between the cities of Olomouc and Mohelnice. Its total area is 96 square meters. km. This is a narrow strip of land (from 3 to 8 km) around the banks of the Morava River. In the middle of this unique natural system is the royal city of Litovel.

The climate in the reserve is temperate, with warm summers and damp winters. The maximum temperature in the year is +20 ° C, and the minimum temperature is -3 ° C. The average annual precipitation does not exceed 600 mm.

Flora and fauna

The wealth of the reserve's flora is visible to the unaided eye. The landscape consists of flooded meadows, oak and alder forests, as well as marshes. About a hundred rare species of plants need protection. Since the creation of the landscape area, Czech botanists have worked diligently to preserve certain species.

Also Litovelske Pomoravi has a diverse fauna. The greatest attention is attracted to beavers, who, not tired, build a dam on the river. In the reserve there are more than 50 species of different birds. The colors of dense forests and green meadows are added by butterflies, which are huge here.

What else is interesting in the reserve?

The river delta is a unique complex of vast meadows, forests and wetlands. Here there are rare animals and you can meet no less rare plants. However, the main inhabitants are birds. In the reserve, hundreds of species of birds regularly nest. A large part of Litovelske Pomorava is covered with beech and oak forests.

The city of Litovel, from which this territory got its name, is right in the heart of the reserve. Around the fully marked bike paths, quite suitable for families with children. There are also asphalted roads that are suitable for bikers.

The nearby Třesin hill attracts tourists with its caves . This is a real speleological and archaeological paradise. Nature has created a labyrinth of corridors and domes, as well as many stalactites. Interesting objects of antiquity and even human skeletons were found in the caves, indicating that people lived here during the Paleolithic period.

How to get there?

Near Litovelsk Pomoravi there is an E442 trail, along which you can reach the reserve. From such large cities as Brno , Ostrava and Prague , excursion trips are organized.
