The name of the Biedermeier style appeared very strange and unexpected. Originally in 1848, the famous German poet J. von Scheffel published one poem "Evening cozy pastime for biedermann", and then another - "Complaints of an idle Meyer". Two years later a German poet L. Eichrodt, having asked himself the question of creating a pseudonym, took the noun "Biedermann" (which is a decent, straightforward person) and the surname "Maier", and compiled them in one word. Under the pseudonym "Biedermeier" he began to write and publish unpretentious, dacha in something naive poems.
