This beautiful and rather interesting plant belongs to the family of agave. Homeland of the bokarney is Mexico. People call it "elephant leg" or "horse tail". These names very accurately describe the appearance of the plant. The Crown is really like a pony tail. The trunk of the bokarnea is thick and massive, downwards, which makes it look like an elephant's leg. In flower shops I most often sell one species of this plant: bokarnee bent. This plant has gained its popularity among houseplants for its unusual appearance and relative ease of care.
Bokarneya Bent: Care
The bokarney flower refers to "bottle" plants. His thick stalk stores moisture for future use. Care for the bokarneya is relatively simple, you only need to provide the plant with comfortable conditions for it. Here are the basic rules of flower care:
- Temperature. This plant prefers cool conditions of detention. In summer, the optimal temperature is not higher than 21 ° C, and in winter, not lower than 7-8 ° C.
- Lighting. For bokarnei bright scattered light fits.
- Watering. Since this plant is accustomed to store water for future use, excessive watering can lead to decay of roots. In the spring and summer, moderate watering is needed, and in winter it is better to water a bakarney as little as possible.
- Humidity and fertilizer. Care for bokarneya involves periodic spraying. Once a week, spray the plant with water from a spray gun. In the spring-summer period, every two weeks, you need to feed the flower with liquid fertilizer for indoor plants.
- Bokarney transplantation. Young plants are transplanted every year, and adults are transplanted as needed (approximately every 2 years). When you make a transplantation of the bokarney, carefully follow the roots, they are quite fragile and it is very easy to damage them. You can water the plant on the third day after transplantation. Prepare the soil mixture: mix in equal amounts clay
and deciduous land and add as much sand. Before planting in a pot, you need to prepare a good drain for the flower.
Diseases of the bokarnea
Here are the main problems that you may encounter when growing a flower:
- dried at the edges and at the end of the leaves indicate a too high temperature or a lack of moisture;
- growth slows down and leaves grow small in the event that the flower does not receive enough nutrients;
- if the watering is too intense, the leaves become brownish and fall off;
- If irrigation on the contrary is too meager, the trunk begins to wrinkle and the tips of the leaves dry.
