Botanical garden "Andromeda"

The Andromeda Gardens Barbados is near the resort town of Batcheba in St. Joseph County. It is one of the world's youngest botanical gardens and the largest in the Caribbean region. The garden began its history in 1954 - it was then that Iris Bannochi, with the help of the famous gardeners of Barbados, began construction of the garden on the ancestral lands. Even during her lifetime, the founder gave her creation to local authorities, and already in the 70s the Andromeda Botanical Garden was open to visitors.

Plants and arrangement of garden

More than 600 species of plants are collected in the area of approximately 2.5 hectares, including more than fifty kinds of palm trees, including the umbrella corypha, which is considered to be the highest palm tree (palm tree height is more than 20 meters), undersized shrubs and many flowers . But the Andromeda Botanical Garden is not only an impressive collection of vegetation from around the world, it is also an excellent park with many cozy paths, bridges and paths. The center of the garden is decorated with a pond with banyan trees, and for the convenience of tourists there is a cafeteria, souvenir shop, library and even a gazebo from which you can admire the beautiful seascapes. By the way, the gazebo was built for the Queen of Denmark Ingrid, who visited Barbados Park in 1971.
