At first glance, the task of fixing the ceiling cornice under the suspended ceiling looks almost impossible. After all, it is impossible to attach a sufficiently heavy construction of the cornice, not to mention the curtains and curtains, which will need to be hung on it, on the plastic or fabric of the ceiling coating, without causing its deformation. However, there are techniques that allow you to successfully combine in the interior a beautiful stretch ceiling and ceiling cornice.
Visible ceiling cornice
There are two ways to fix the ceiling cornice: these are visible and hidden ceiling cornices for stretch ceilings. The first is much easier to install and allow over time to change the outer parts of the cornice, while not damaging the ceiling coating. Such cornices look expensive, beautiful and unusual.
How to fix the ceiling cornice to the tension ceiling? All the preparatory work takes place before the ceiling is stretched. If it is already done, and you are not going to change it, then better consider the options for fixing the cornice on the wall, as using a ceiling model becomes impossible. To fix the visible cornice, during the installation of the base of the stretch ceiling, it is also necessary to screw a special bar to the ceiling, which will take on all the load from the curtains, curtains and curtains. This cantilever is fixed either along the whole length of the ceiling near the wall where it is planned to fasten the cornices, or in clearly defined places for them. To the ceiling, this beam is nailed with special wooden dowels, for which it is necessary to pre-drill holes in the main ceiling. Its height should be equal to or may be a few millimeters less than the height of the guides for the stretch ceiling.
After the beam is fixed, the tensioning structure is assembled. The next step is the fixing of the ceiling cornice. This method is somewhat more labor-intensive than the previous one.
To fix the cornice in a niche, it is purchased in advance and mounted to the main ceiling even before the guides for the tension ceiling begin to be assembled. It is the width of the cornice that affects how much the area of the future tension structure will decrease.
After the cornice is mounted, it is necessary to nail a wooden beam in front of it, a few millimeters from the eaves. It is to this bar later and will be attached to the profile for the installation of stretch ceilings . After the profile is fixed, it is necessary to install the tensioning structure in the usual way. This will be the final stage of installing the ceiling with a niche in which the cornice is located.
