Chernivtsi - attractions

In the south-west of Ukraine is the city of Chernivtsi, which has preserved a large number of attractions, which is why it is considered along with Lviv as one of the tourist centers of Western Ukraine. The region where the city is located is called Bukovina, after the duchy, which existed here before.

How to get to Chernivtsi?

It's very easy to get to Chernivtsi. From any regional center of Ukraine and neighboring countries (Russia, Romania, Poland) buses and trains regularly go in this direction. From other countries (for example, Italy and Turkey) you can get here by plane, as there is an international airport in the city, and planes from Kiev and other large Ukrainian cities arrive there.

What to see in Chernivtsi?

In the central square of Chernivtsi there are several interesting sights at once:

  1. The Town Hall - its height is 45 meters, it was built in 1847.
  2. The Regional Art Museum - it occupies the building of the former Bukovyna Savings Bank. The work of art can be seen here without even going into the room, as one of the walls is a picturesque majolica mosaic, where 12 ancient Roman gods represent 12 regions of Austria-Hungary.
  3. One of the most famous monuments of architecture is the Chernivtsi National University , located in the building of the former residence of Orthodox metropolitans. This stunningly beautiful building was erected by the architect Joseph Hlavka in almost 18 years.

An excellent place to relax after sightseeing Chernivtsi is the area "Turkish Krinitsa" . There are a flower clock, a Turkish 19th century bridge, a pavilion above the source, a fountain and a bronze bicycle.
