Preparation for travel involves a lot of important things: drawing up the optimal route, residence in the place of arrival, choosing the mode of transportation, buying tickets. But what if the ticket purchased was no longer necessary or, for example, the flight was canceled?

Can I pass the tickets?
Possibility of delivery of tickets is provided in all railway enterprises of the world. The difference is only in the conditions and ways of carrying out this procedure.
When returning an unused ticket, the passenger receives compensation for its cost. The amount of compensation (full or partial) depends on the date of the ticket. The more time left before departure, the greater the commission for the return of railway tickets.
General rules for refunding tickets are as follows:
- Return of unused travel documents is possible only at the ticket offices of the railway station.
- When returning a ticket, be sure to bring your identity document (passport is better).
- Try to get tickets in advance.
Return of tickets for RZD trains
Refunds for railway tickets for federal transport are made in accordance with the "Rules for the transport of passengers, baggage and luggage on the federal railway transport."
According to these rules, the passenger can take the unused purchased ticket at any time (before departure of the train). In this case, the refund of the money for the railway ticket will be carried out taking into account the time remaining before the departure of the flight, the ticket for which is given.
Three categories of terms are distinguished, with different compensation sizes:
- Not later than 8 hours before the departure of the train. In this case, the passenger has the right to receive compensation in the amount of the full cost of the ticket and the cost of a reserved seat.
- If there are 8 to 2 hours left before departure, the cost of the ticket and 50% of the price of the ticket card is refunded.
- In the event that less than two hours remain before the departure of the train, only the cost of the ticket is compensated - the money for a reserved seat does not return.
In addition, it is possible to reissue a ticket for a train with an earlier shipment deadline. This procedure is performed when there are no more than 24 hours left before the departure of the train, the amount of the fee for refunding and reissuing the ticket depends on the flight (type, distance) and the time of the procedure.
The conditions for returning tickets in Ukraine are the same as in Russia, but the only difference is that you need an identity card for the procedure. But the personal presence of everyone whose ticket is handed over is not necessary at all, so you may well be instructed to hand over tickets to the whole family (company) to one person.
How to hand in an electronic train ticket?
An electronic ticket is the same document as a ticket purchased in the usual way. And this means that you can also return it. The difference is that the money for it will not be returned to you in cash (as it happens with ordinary tickets), but by transfer to a bank account. It takes this procedure from 2 to 180 days (as a rule, the funds are returned within a month).
