Church of Seventh-day Adventists (Reykjavik)


The building of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Reykjavik is the oldest Adventist church in Iceland . The temple was opened in 1925, and its appearance conveys modesty in all directions of life of that time, which was reflected in architecture. The church is interesting still with its history, therefore it is one of the most interesting sights of Reykjavik.

General information

The Seventh-day Adventist Church appeared in the capital of Iceland in 1897, 53 years after it was founded in Washington. This Orthodox branch was quickly adopted by the inhabitants of Reykjavik and, although it could not seriously compete with Christianity, it paid great attention. So great that it took quite a bit of time, as it was decided to build a temple, where many parishioners-Adventists could communicate with God.

To date, among the metropolitan residents - 5% of the parishioners of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. And they are proud that one of the oldest buildings belongs to their temple. His style is sustained and fully corresponds to the architectural traditions of the early twentieth century. White walls and a brown brown roof emphasize the modesty of the temple and the conservative traditions of the church.
