On the night of November 22 at the age of 55 years, the famous opera singer Dmitry Hvorostovsky passed away. In memory of the remarkable performer we have collected interesting facts from his life.
Dmitri Hvorostovsky is one of the most famous opera singers, the "golden voice" of the best opera houses in the world. Dmitry's talent was marked by many awards, and his baritone was heard by millions of people. Living in London, Hvorostovsky constantly came with concerts in Russia, where he had numerous admirers.
In June 2015, the singer was diagnosed with a brain tumor with which he courageously fought for two years. His last concert the singer gave in June 2017 in his hometown of Krasnoyarsk.

Dmitri Hvorostovsky was born on October 16, 1962 in Krasnoyarsk. His father was a chemist, and his mother was a doctor. Dmitri's father, seeing in his son a talent for singing, gave it to a music school, in which the future baritone walked from under the stick, preferring to play football. As a teenager, Dima started smoking, was carried away by rock music and skipped classes. It is not surprising that he graduated from school with a single five in the certificate. And this five was ... no, not in music, but in physical education. Dmitry never dreamed of any higher education, he was going to go to the Baikal-Amur Mainline and put sleepers there, but his father literally forced his son to submit documents to the music and choir school. It was in this educational institution that Dmitry really got carried away with music.

The singer was married twice. His first wife was the ballerina of the corps de ballet, Svetlana Ivanova, whom he met at the Krasnoyarsk theater. Svetlana already had a daughter Maria from the previous relationship, which Dmitry accepted, and later adopted.
The wedding took place in 1991, and five years later, Dmitry and Svetlana were born twin brothers Alexander and Danila, but even the children could not save the couple from the painful divorce that took place in 2001. According to Hvorostovsky, because of the experiences associated with parting, he earned a stomach ulcer, and also began to abuse alcohol. After the divorce, he left his wife a house in London and did not stop taking care of the children. In 2015, after it became known about Dmitry's illness, his first wife suddenly died of sepsis, which developed as a result of meningitis. Thus, today the 21-year-old Alexandra and Danila were left without both parents ...

Dmitry's second wife was half-French-half-Italian Florent Illi. For the sake of her husband, the woman learned Russian, read Dostoyevsky and Chekhov in the original, and also learned how to make pelmeni. Dmitry affectionately called his wife Flosh:
"With Flossha, my life has radically changed, played with bright colors! I think, and breathe, and it is sung easily ... "
In the second marriage two children were born: in 2003 - son Maxim, and in 2007 - daughter Nina. Although the singer and his family lived in London, he talked with his children only in Russian.
According to Dmitry, he was too impulsive to drive a car, so he always went by taxi.

The singer began to turn gray at age 17, and his mother turned gray at 20.
Nadezhda Stepanovna Khvorostovskaya is the sister of Dmitry's father. She died in 1996 from bone marrow cancer, at the same age as Dmitri. Meanwhile, science has so far failed to answer the question of whether cancer is a hereditary disease, or whether it is provoked by external factors.
The asteroid Khvorostovsky was discovered by the astronomer Lyudmila Karachkina.
