Door arches

For the spectacular separation of neighboring rooms, modern interior designers often resort to such an architectural method as arranging the arch in the doorway. This design of the doorway (and in some cases, rather, re-registration) allows you to make even a standard layout of the apartment a note of individuality, not to mention a private house where door arches are often envisaged at the design stage.

Doorways - arches

First of all, to make the arch really become a stylish architectural element of the interior, you should correctly choose the shape of the arch and determine its design, given a number of nuances. What is meant. There are several types (forms) of interior door arches, but not all of its favorite configurations can fit into the existing doorway - some arches look great only in rooms with high ceilings, others require a wide opening.

The classical form of the arch is suitable for rooms with a ceiling height of at least three meters. This is due to the fact that the bend in the classical arch has a regular shape and its radius is half the width of the doorway. That is, with the width of the doorway, for example, 90 cm, the highest point of the arch curve will be at a height of not less than 45 cm above it (the standard height of the usual doorway is 210 cm, plus 45 cm arch height, opening - the height of ceilings of a standard apartment of 250 cm is simply not enough). In this case, the ideal option would be to decorate the doorway with an arch in the style of "modern". The peculiarity of such arches is that the radius of the arch bend exceeds the width of the opening.

Another option is a very wide doorway. In such cases, the arch form is chosen in the style of "romantik", in which the obligatory technological insert between rounded corners (at an angle or horizontal) can serve as an additional element of the decor. All listed arches are passive, having strict forms. There are also arches active, having the most bizarre shapes. Such arches for doorways have received the name decorative. They can be lancet, elliptical, horseshoe shaped, trapezoidal, keel-shaped and so on.

Material for making arches

Traditional materials for the manufacture of arched openings are concrete and brick - the actual doorway of the arch type is laid out (formed) of these materials still under construction. Also, various types of wood can be used - aspen, oak, pine, beech, ash, and others. Since these materials do not differ in ductility, they are used to make passive arches. As an alternative to natural wood, arches for doorways can be made of such modern material as MDF. To do this, most often use slabs that have a facial covering for valuable tree species - this gives the end product the most attractive appearance.

For active arches, sometimes having rather complex shapes, more pliable materials will do. Nowadays, doorways of this type are usually made of plasterboard. This material is extremely easy to handle, it is easy to bend when moistened, and after drying it keeps the prescribed shape well. In addition, the surface of drywall can easily be applied to a variety of decorative materials - primers, plasters, paints, wallpaper, tiles.
