Facing of the plinth

The basement of the house can be a separate construction on the foundation or its continuation. But regardless of the type of construction chosen, it is the lower part of the house that is usually given a maximum of time in terms of finishing, waterproofing and insulation. In this article we will touch on the issue of decorative facing, the choice of the most suitable material of the socle and possible options.

Facing plinth plaster

Most often plaster is applied to the already insulated frame, after fixing the grid. Why do we need this grid? The fact is that from the differences and unevenness of the wall no one is immune, and even the decorative layer is sometimes superimposed as much as 12 mm or more. Under such conditions, the mesh becomes the connecting link that will hold the entire mass of the decorative layer.

Stone for facing the plinth

This is perhaps the most traditional version of the finish. In the past, natural stone was a solution expensive, but very durable for the lining of the socle. Currently, it is used a little less often, because there are artificial materials, and the price does not get lower with years.

Both natural and production analogs fully justify your expectations and will be served by faith and truth up to 50 years. Outwardly artificial stone differs little from the natural, but for the price of the lining of the cap it will be significant. With regard to installation, then work with natural materials should only be masters of their craft, because the subtleties and nuances of fitting the size and mounting are many, and the price of the stone is high. In the case of the factory slabs under the stone, everything is much simpler and here you can do it on your own. The stone lining of the socle will look harmonious in a pair with decorative plaster, other types of stone and of course a tree.

Facing of the plinth basement

In working with tile materials there is always an advantage in the form of simplicity of calculation and laying. In the matter of facing the socle, preference is given to ceramic tiles. The material is known for its durability, excellent aging with strong frosts and temperature changes, and it is also pleasing to the eye.

Facing the base of the house with a brick or clinker tile is used at least often. Visually, it will seem to you that the whole wall is completely bricked. But if used by this clinker brick, the cost of the lining of the socle will be very high, and in the case of tiles, the price will decrease substantially. For the designer, this solution is good because the color diversity allows you to successfully combine the shades of the plinth and the shingles, the walls themselves. If we talk about the method of fixing the tiles, that is, two main types: on glue mixtures or with a frame. The second method will be more expensive, but its reliability exceeds the capabilities of mixtures at times.

Facing the base of the house with siding

When your desires and the existence of a budget do not coincide, you have to look for the optimal solution. Fortunately, the chemical and construction industries are not standing still, and now such a solution has been found. Want to finish the socle with stone, wood or brick? No problems! Now PVC will replace all this, and in a matter of hours you will get a presentable socle.

But it is important to remember that for the lining of the socle and the wall as a whole there are differences in the siding, or rather the material from which it was made. The difference in additives that make the material for the socle is much stronger, since this part of the house experiences much more mechanical damage.

PVC is one of those materials for the plinth lining that are able to withstand very low or high temperatures without damage. An excellent solution, when the frame of the house can not withstand a heavier finish. Self-assembly is also possible for siding.
