How to save an orchid without roots?

Deciding to get yourself a pretty whimsical favorite - an orchid, you need to be prepared for some troubles, which can not be avoided by any beginner in floriculture. It's about how to save an orchid, if its roots are rotten, and whether it's real at all.

The fact is that orchids (in particular, phalaenopsis ) come from the tropics, where there is always a warm and fairly humid climate. Playing in an apartment such conditions is almost impossible, unless you use special greenhouse-greenhouses for plants that require a lot of space.

The causes of decay of the root system of orchids

Especially often trouble awaits the florist in the autumn-winter period, when the surrounding temperature falls and the sunlight does not get enough to the plant. Often such conditions lead to the fact that the orchid falls into a hibernation.

Outwardly it is invisible, the leaves are dense and green, as before. But the roots stop absorbing moisture after watering, and the water accumulates in the pot. Finding roots for a long time in such conditions leads to the fact that they begin to rot and the plant is on the hair from death.

When an orchid dies, many do not know how to save it, and commit inappropriate manipulations with the remains of its roots. To give the plant a chance to survive, it takes a lot of effort and time.

How to save an orchid, left without roots?

To begin with, remove the plant from the pot and rinse the remaining roots. Well, when at least some of them are preserved, it gives the plant a greater chance of survival, rather than if there are no roots at all, and sometimes it happens.

After rinsing, you must carefully dry the plant in the air - it can take up to three hours depending on the temperature around. Only then can you judge which roots are still alive, and what should be immediately removed.

The living roots have a dense and elastic structure, while the rotten ones are soft and a liquid is released from them under pressure. Such dead roots are removed to a living place, and the sections are treated with alcohol and sprinkled with charcoal and Kornevin.

Now you need to choose how to save the orchid when it practically rotted. There are two such resuscitation options, we will consider them in more detail.

Method number 1

The simplest method is suitable for a plant that has a living majority of the root system. The orchid must be awakened from hibernation, and for this it is necessary to find the most illuminated place in the house, but not a direct hit of the sun's rays. If this is not found, then you will need to purchase a special phytolamp for planting the plant.

The root system cleared of rot is mixed into a small pot of claydite and sphagnum moss, the substrate must be constantly moistened, but not too much so that there is no water at the bottom. In such conditions, a plant placed in a sunny place, where the temperature will not be below 25 ° C, will emit new roots within a month.

It happens that an orchid forms a baby without roots - how to save it and get a new plant? The first method is slightly improved - the baby is planted in a pot, but not on top, but between the layers of moss, and after a while there are roots.

Method number 2

The second way for plants that have remained virtually without roots. But even if the plant has blackened buds, there is a chance to save it. For their revival will have to build a small hothouse from any improvised material - bottles, jars, packaging from a cake, or an old aquarium. As in the first method, fine clay is added to the bottom and sphagnum is added, this plant contains the plant.

The maximum temperature in such a hotbed should not exceed 33 ° С, otherwise the plant will start to rot again, but the coolness, too, is not needed for the orchid, in this case a mold will grow in the greenhouse and destroy the plant.

This method is based on the action of carbon dioxide, which is formed in a confined space. It is necessary for the development of new plant cells. Once a day the little guy is airing, and if the surrounding temperature is constant, then you can leave it open for the whole night.

The plant can be fertilized with Epin every three weeks, and also fed with sweets - a solution of glucose or honey. And, of course, the main healer will again be a large amount of scattered sunlight.
