"I was always sure that musicals turn out to be ideal when they are about fictional, fantastic or legendary heroes. It's easier to show such characters while dancing. You look at them with interest, and the musical genre allows them to be accepted 100%. In this respect, Phineas Barnum is simply perfect. For his time he was an extremely unconventional person, he risked and was not afraid to be a pioneer. While making a film about him, we assumed certain risks, acted out of the box. "

A full-length film is a debut for director Michael Gracie, as before, for two decades he shot commercials. According to Jackman, the director's enthusiasm made him agree to such an unusual project:
