Kasb Agadir

Kasbah Agadir refers to those sights in Morocco , which are loved by tourists, even though from the historical building there is almost nothing left. Kasba is an old part of the city, a fortress erected on a hill with the aim of protecting the city from external enemies.

History of the creation of Kasba

The Kasbah of Agadir was erected in 1540 by the order of Sultan Mohammed ek-Sheikh. Then, after more than two hundred years, namely in 1752, the kazbu was rebuilt under the leadership of Sultan Moulay Abdullah al-Ghalib. In those years, it was a fairly impressive fortress, in which there were about three hundred well-armed fighters. However, the earthquake of 1960, which claimed the lives of many thousands of Agadir residents and destroyed most of the city, caused irreparable damage and kasbe. As a result of the earthquake, from a powerful and well-fortified cusbu with its wide and winding streets there was only one long battlement wall. Yes, and this survived wall was subsequently plastered in many places, so that only here and there you can see fragments of the original masonry of the fortress walls.

What interesting things can you see on the Kasbah of Agadir?

The route to the Agadir Kasbah is about 7 km long, it takes about 1 hour to get there. Most tourists rise in the afternoon after 11 o'clock, when the fog has dissipated, and you can see a fascinating panorama of the city, Agadir bay, Su valley and Atlas mountains. Above the entrance to the fortress visitors can see engraved in 1746 an inscription in Arabic and Dutch, saying "Be afraid of God and honor the king." At the top of the kasba you can take pictures with monkeys and ride a camel. Very beautiful view of the kazbu and its top in the evening at sunset. On the hill where the fortress is located, there is a huge inscription in Arabic, which in translation sounds like "God, Fatherland, King". This inscription, like the wall itself, is highlighted in the evening with a blue color.
