Nosi-Irania

Near Madagascar there are many small islands, where you can relax in complete solitude and without the fuss. One of them is Nosi-Irania or, as the locals call it, Nozi-Irania. Let's find out how this island attracts tourists so much.

A bit of history

The island has another name - the Island of Turtles, since it is here that great Indian turtles have chosen a home for themselves. Local residents tell an amazing legend that once this place was so liked by the princess that she decided to live here and gave Nosi-Irania part of her beauty in the form of snow-white sand and blue water.

What is remarkable about Nosi-Irania?

The very shape of the island is unusual - it consists of two parts of irregular shape, which connects a long sand spit. It is possible to get from one part to another only at low tide, and when the tide comes, the path disappears under water. However, fearless travelers go around the spit around the clock, as the water level does not rise too high. Most of the island is called Nosi-Iranya Be, and the smaller is Nosi-Iranya Keli.

Of course, arriving on the island, I want to occupy myself not only by admiring the blue ocean and white sand. Anyone who is unfamiliar with the idle reclining on the beach can go watch the local centenary turtles resting by the shore, or devote a day to diving , which in Madagascar is very popular. Diving to depth, you can see a completely different world - huge crabs, whales, reef sharks and other deep-sea inhabitants.

On the island there is an old lighthouse built according to Eiffel's drawings - this is a tourist attraction, which also attracts visitors. But most of all they like to cruise along the sandy spit between the islands.

How to get to Nosi-Irania?

You can swim here from Nusi-Be by paying for a sea taxi in the form of a boat in two hours, or by helicopter. The distance is only 45 km. You can stop here in one of several hotels that meet all the modern requirements of sophistication and comfort.
